View Full Version : How will you spend Easter? I was just wondering how many of you will be having a feast at home, go to someone else's place, or eat out. Tomorrow, as with most holidays, we will have seven of our kids (we had nine) over for a family get together . Their spouses and our grandkids will also be present (as well as a couple of friends). We always look forward to it. My wife does the major part of the meal preparations. She is usually cooking or baking for two or three days to get things done. After we eat, she always tells the kids "I'm not doing this any more. I'm not as young as I used to be." But after she gets rested up, it seems as though she's looking forward to the next holiday (and more abuse). :D Happy Easter to all.
Ed Doug Nelson 03-30-2002, 11:29 AM Is Easter even a holiday everywhere? It always seemed to me to be a kind of second-class holiday, simply by virtue of always falling on a Sunday.
(dinner at my sister's house) You sure answered my post in a hurry. I doubt if the ink was even dry yet! :D I'm sure it isn't a holiday everywhere. But at our place, it doesn't take much at all to qualify as a holiday! :)
Ed winwintoo 03-30-2002, 12:28 PM I'll be spending Easter in a drug-induced stupor :hurt:
I woke up today with a bad cold, so had to cancel my planned family gathering. Easter here will be celebrated later in the week once I've recovered. One of the benefits of retirement is that the calendar has less meaning and we don't need to wait for the weekend to do things :dizzy:
I'll be thinking of you all enjoying yourselves tomorrow,
Margaret DJ Dubovsky 03-30-2002, 12:32 PM I think I'm coming to your house Ed. Sounds like your wife is one good cook. :)
Tonight we will be spending a late Sader at our best friends house for the Jewish Passover. Love that Matza Ball soup. Then tomorrow they will all come over our house for an Easter celebration. We've been friends for almost 20 years and it's like getting the best of both worlds. Twice as fattening too unfortunately. I'm going to give T's Death by Chocolate a try as a desert. I'll have to let her know how it goes over.
DJ
Margaret,
Hope you're feeling better soon. Sure is rough having a cold but not nearly as rough as when it's during a holiday.
DJ Margaret,
That's too bad you're not feeling well enough to enjoy the day. But you're right about the calendar. :)
Debbie,
I sure wish there was a way you could send me a sample of that. I'm a chocolate lover too.
Ed Bob Walden 03-30-2002, 06:04 PM For my wife and I its Easter service (too cold this year for outside sunrise service)then brunch and dinner with the relatives. First yr our son is on his own in MN. No Easter egg hunt for him this yr. Going to miss that.
Easter is fun for us. We start a week before and deliver easter eggs to a couple nursing homes then a few days before Easter we do the same to the little kids in our area. Lots of fun.
Happy Easter all!!!
Photoshop In the attachments I'm the one in the vest.
Bob Bob Walden 03-30-2002, 06:37 PM Sorry, I missed the attachment. Bob Walden 03-30-2002, 06:38 PM One more. Good for you Bob. It's great that you think of others at a time like this. By the way...you're a pretty good lookin' guy. :D
Ed Doug Nelson 03-30-2002, 08:40 PM Bob, that is so cool! DJ Dubovsky 03-30-2002, 08:41 PM Hey Bob, I never imagined you were such a handsome fellow. :D I think that is a wonderful way to spend Easter. Looks like it not only makes thier Easter happy but yours too. Happy Easter.
DJ CJ Swartz 03-30-2002, 09:07 PM Bob - that is a wonderful thing to do. Who enjoys it more -- the nursing home folks or the kids? (I know the REAL answer is YOU, but I'm wondering about the reactions of the other folks.)
You are one handsome bunny. BigAl 03-31-2002, 01:58 AM Although it's autumn here, the weather is splendid (30C expected) :) so I'm barbequeing a chicken over an open fire (called a braai down here) with a tandoori curry marinade.
(Maybe I should put that in the cookbook ;) ) The cookbook was started to satisfy every taste. Post away!!
Ed Bob Walden 03-31-2002, 08:20 AM We really enjoy delivering the eggs. The people in the nursing homes enjoy it more then the kids. They still believe in the Easter Bunny. As for being handsome I always felt my tail was too big.

As for being handsome I always felt my tail was too big.Is that why the two photos you posted don't include your tail? ;) Seriously, that is really cool what you do and I can imagine that the older people really enjoy the visit!
We'll be celebrating Easter by joining a neighborhood Easter Egg Hunt for the children, then a pot-luck brunch at one of our neighbor's homes. It's a beautiful day today - maybe we'll even find time for a hike.
Jeanie Wanda Schwind 03-31-2002, 10:21 PM Since I didn't see this thread until Easter day I will answer in past tense. Saturday my husband, son and myself went to Easter Vigil.
Easter I was the cook and cooked a scrumptious meal, which was enjoyed by all. Then my husband fell asleep, he works the midnight shift. My son who is 17 almost 6' and 185 lbs doesn't enjoy Easter egg hunts like he used to:( I miss that. To relax I listened to the Messiah on my CD player and allowed my mind to wander to past Easters when all my children were still at home. I had six children, not quite as many as you have, Ed, but still a pretty good house full. Hope you all had a wonderful day no matter how you chose to celebrate!!
