I noticed a recent thread about some useful tutorial movies to be found on the web. I'm a big fan of these, and longtime users may recall my little experiment with a tutorial movie here some months ago. At the time, a majority of users said their connection was too slow to access it, so I abandoned the idea.

Has the typical member's bandwidth improved enough that now the idea is more practical?

I'm still on a dial-up, but I have taken the time to let a couple of clips download. I think they're great too. I just wish it didn't take so long to get them.

Doug, I don't know if this is typical, but I have to download the movies and then play them back from my hard drive. Trying to view the movies from the website doesn't work for me. Perhaps that's how it's supposed to be, but it doesn't work that way for me on say the CNN site. Anyway, I can start a download and then move on to other things. Then once the movie is downloaded, it plays back very quickly from my hard drive. I've got a cable connection, so it doesn't take too long, but even if it did, I think it might be worth it. (Not sure I would say that if I were in Viet Nam though. ;) )

I'm just full of questions, but have very few answers. :) How do you download a movie to your hard drive if there's no link for downloading?

Ed,
Right mouse click on the link. Then choose "Save target as."

Hi Doug

Last week Sharon Johnston answered a question I had about a statement she made concerning the clone tool. She directed me to a site (below) that has short movies. Last week I was on Aol 56k and these movies would play but loading was slow. Two hours ago I got hooked up on cable modem and I just tried this same site and it was great. It seemed like real time.

I think these movie tutorials would be great. It is really a help to watch and learn at the same time..I'm all for them.

I cut the site address from her response. I will try to paste it below.

Thanks
Jerry

Don't know if I'm average, but I have a DSL connection so movies are no problem for me. I prefer movies over PDF files although I'll take any help I can get any way I can get it.

Thanks in advance,
Margaret

Thanks Jeanie. I was waiting for the PDF file to load, *then* I would right click. Obviously, with no luck. :)

Jeanie,
I never knew how to save those movies as tutorials. Thanks a bunch for that little tidbit. Have to try that.
