Hi there!

I'm chriss (call me ecols ;) ) and I'm pretty new to retouching. I shot this pic of a girl and was quite surprised to see what came out. I really think she IS good looking, but the photo doesn't at all show that..

So I wnated to ask the community to show me, what glam retouches they'd do! Can You show me Your results and explain what You did?

This is the original Pic:
http://ecols.de/images/retouch/first.jpg

And this is my first try:
http://ecols.de/images/retouch/first_retouch.jpg

What I did was: cleaning the skin with the "Copy Stamp" tool (green layer), slimming the cheeks, bit of makeup (just a brush),
the 2 color correction layers, one fir the background, one for the girl.

How do Your results look like?

I'm curious!

I did this super quick just to give you an idea of how I would approach it. I just slimmed her cheeks slightly and then enhanced her features. Made her eyes, brows and lips more prominent. Then gave her some cheek bones using curves. I took out some of the magenta in her skin tone, but kept her cheeks pink being that it looks pretty cool out. Lastly I just made the overall image less flat.
It's not a great retouch by any means, just meant to give a quick example of one way to glam it up a bit.

I don't generally do retouch jobs on girls, so all I've really done is clean up the pic a little.

Removed obvious blemishes, opened up the pupils of her eyes by about 50%, opened up her mouth a touch (about 5%), and did a general colour correction.

Finally cropped a bit closer to minimise the BG a touch.

Thank You guys!

You really inspired me.. I had a second go and didn't exagerate (I hope so).
I left the "rough" stuff like cheeks, lips, because I've got to do some tutorials to get those as natural as You do.

Tell me what You think, and keep on posting your versions!

Some color adjustments and shading. I hope I didn't over do it. :)

Edit: added a lighter retouch

Thought I'd try to imagine her with some shadows and contours in her face.

Hallo Ecols,

Hello Ecols,

maybe your srceen have not the right colours or you overlook that your Image have to much Magenta

If you go in Photoshop to Info the Magentacolour should not be higher than the yellow colour

for better results blemishes should be removed with the Healing Brush Tool

have fun by trying

Hi ecols,

Quick effort from me. I would suggest that this isn't really the right environment or does the pretty young girl have the correct attire on to turn her into a glamour puss.

With that in mind, I cropped to make her the focus of attention and blurred out the background. This is in no way a finished image - used a levels adjustment layer, healing, cloning, high pass, gaussian blur, curves adjustment layer, lots of masking.

Just looked at the image ..... eek! .... it could do with some sharpening :-)

To my mind, BillFrey's rendition is the best because it makes the photo a true portrait. That background has got to go!

Hmm, I gave it a shot. Could be a lot better but oh well.
What I did was "fixing" her cheeks, softening her (already soft) skin, removed some shadows in her face, added new shadows on the sides of her face, adding some highlights here and there, applying a little contrast and some more color.

Quite difficult on this one, not to end up with a painted look.

I darken her skin slightly, added a red tint to her hair and highlighted her lips with the pink to match the coat trim. Brought out her blue eyes and cropped out to a taller picture.

Here's my take on it.

http://www.expressphotoretouch.com/free/girl_compare_rt.jpg

I wanted to make her prettier but still natural/casual looking. A lot of things could be done still... mouth seems a little sideways, if you want to make it less casual you could always add makeup and there's some over magenta / green / yellow overtones here and there I'd have to take care of with masks but I'm not in the mood for that right now!

If you have questions about how specific things were done or comments (I like feedback, good and bad) feel free to let me know!

Had to re-visit this 25 year old that looks 13..
(wish I had those Genes!... but even then I would still be OLD!) Anyway here is my interpretation of an olderfied version
(just darkened a bit using a softlight Hue/Saturation layer, healed face and changed background.. did not do very much here)

try that: make a new layer, take the brush, low the oppacity, pic a nice color und just paint the eyeshadow and the blush and with the softening filter (i dont know the real name my photoshop is german) and the layer oppacity you can make it look real

First post. :] I'm really new to photo editing (so please, no harsh criticism! :[). I am also a digital painter, web designer, and graphics designer, so I thought I'd give photo editing a shot. There are still things I could do with fixing (put some texture to the skin, make the lips more clear, things like that), but I'm lazy. XP

here is my try

some cloning of face
just add highpass filter(soft blending) x 2
and added makeup(soft blending of some paint)
and added white to the iris to bring out the eye color(overlay blending)
