Hello all,

I'm a complete newbie, and I definitely need help!

My wife enjoys pictures, taking them and displaying them in interesting ways, including scrapbooking. She has asked for a scanner for xmas, and she wants to be able to scan 12"x12" scrapbook pages. For recreation use, I can't see getting anything but a desktop (8.5x11) scanner. I see that ArcSoft has "scan and stitch" software that comes with the scanner I am looking at, but it is only for Microsoft. We have a Mac. I am wondering if there is a similar Mac software, or if the panorama software that is available would work as well as the scan-specific software?

Please, any guidance will be greatly appreciated.

John, welcome to RP. If you have access to Photoshop CS3, it has an excellent set of features like Photomerge to autoalign and merge images. You could scan each page in two sections and meger then pretty quickly in PS. The other thing to consider is using a good quality digital camera to take a photo of the whole page. Then adjust the size in PS to 12 x 12. After all, a digital camera is also a scanner with a focused lens.
