Hi!

Spent hours and hours looking for the sun-like effect (as a plug-in of Photoshop filter), like on the attached images/ Maybe I just don't know the right name for it.
Also I'm looking for an advanced lens flare effect, with octangular or other non-round lens reflections. Photoshop and KPT6 got perfect circles, which is not natural.

i will greatly appreciate any tips or directions. Thanx!

till U got the sun what U prefer, define a brush from that pict and U can just print with

set the canvas to a square, before

try knoll lens flare...

Yeah, Knoll Light Factory (http://plugsandpixels.com/knolllightfactory.html) is probably your best bet. Also see the options listed here (http://plugsandpixels.com/imageeffects.html) under "Lens flare".
