I have a small work area set up to work on my school projects and portfolio and am looking to set up some sort of proofing area. Nothing really color critical yet, just my portfolio in a month or so.

My overhead lights are Phillips 5000k 92cri tubes, with a switch to just turn on 2 tubes to provide an ambient light (no windows) of 4400K @82 lux in front of the monitor measured with the Eye-One display2. Now I brought home this (http://www.ottlite.com/productdetail.asp?product_id=31) OTT-Lite task lamp (only its 13w) on sale and it reads out 5600k @390 lux.

My question is should I take the task lamp back and just buy a 4 tube fixture and a switch and place that above the proofing desk area (L shaped desk) or should I just use the task lamp? or both ? Are the color temps OK ? I was expecting the $5 apiece Phillips tubes to be a little closer to 5000K. Also Home Depot has some OTT-Lite tubes for $10 apiece but no CRI or Kelvin ratings, just a "daylight" rating.

If someone could shed some light (no pun intended :) ) on this I would appreciate it!
