View Full Version : First Timer in has problem with arm pain! kedeco 12-14-2007, 04:14 PM I'm trying to restore an old photograph. It's killing my arm and back. (RSI for many years now.) Although I love doing it myself - I simply cannot, it just hurts too bad. I've paid to have it restored by a company on the web, however, it's simply not done enough. It still looks horrid. I just want to make it wonderful. (It's of my recently deceased grandmother.) My body is killing me. Some touched up the original and it's left lines on the eyebrows, around the mouth and terrible eyelashes. The backgrounds faded. It's just kind of gross. Can anyone help?
Thanks,
Kelli klassylady25 12-14-2007, 05:01 PM Do you have a larger version? kedeco 12-14-2007, 05:10 PM Sure, I didn't think I could post it. pixelzombie 12-14-2007, 05:12 PM just use flickr to post a larger version... You say you have paid a web professional to restore it:
1) Did you supply the scan or the original print?
2) If they scanned it and then tried to restore - Did you get their original scan back?
3) Did you upset them or something? :)
4) Did you really give them money for doing it!!! :)
What I'm getting at and others have jst asked was can we have a go at the original, because the eyelashes and eyebrows are like RUBBISH !!!!
What look are you looking to get - "Old retro" - "New Digital modern look" ?????
Cheers

p.s. sorry if the British humour is lost in translation :) klassylady25 12-16-2007, 01:54 PM Tmax, some of us like Benny Hill!! lol Tmax100 12-16-2007, 01:57 PM Benny was the best - God rest his soul :) kedeco 12-16-2007, 01:57 PM I've posted a smaller version from my original scan. The scan I sent the web professional was about 8mb. Certainly large enough. Mine that I scanned in is at 23.8. It was only $20.00, however, I can do a better job myself. No words were exchanged and they seemed nice. I just would never use them again and assumed it would be cleaned up quite a bit more. Even after I mentioned I wanted the fading on the dress fixed. Alas...
Yes - the eyelashes and brows are hideous! It's appears my grandmother took the picture in for retouching and they simply drew and penciled it in - along with the smile lines and lip lines. These lines are on the original. I guess the best that could be done at the time.
As far as looks go - I'm open! But if pressed - a modern look.
Thanks to everyone who has chipped in. The fixes look great. Certainly better than I could do. I'm not fast, so I was suffering - greatly. My arm, back, and neck thanks you too. You guys are awesome.
