On this website:
http://www.simonstanmore.com/2007/03/that-sin-city-look.html
you can find some guidelines on how an out-of-the camera image can be retouched/transformed into a nice looking glamour picture.
I tried to follow the instructions but the result is very disappointing.
Any help/suggestions on how to get the result shown on the webpage are welcome. Big thanks in advance.

Hi drouber,
What part of the instructions is confusing? Let's see your try and
perhaps we can figure out what went wrong.
Search RetouchPro, there is lots of information on Dragan/Hill/Fiscus.
PS: I don't think anyone will complain, but you can't use another's photographer's photo without their permission.

@BillFrey:
Thanks for your answer. I removed the links as you suggested.
The main problem for me is: (see website):
... The channel mix was set to monochrome ...
I don't know how to set the channel mix layer to monochrome.

There is a checkbox in the bottom left corner of the channel mixer dialog box that says "monochrome".

@Swampy: thank you, at least one problem solved, haha.
Ok, here's what I tried:
1. duplicate layer, auto levels
2. add 'Channel Mixer', set Red and Blue to 90 and select monochrome at the bottom
3. merge down
4. apply S-curve with following points:
in: 25,123,133,230 and resp. out: 25,121,135,230
After this, I expected the skin color/tint to be similar to the one shown on the website. Mine is not even close.
Looks I'm missing something here.

Hi drouber,
2. Channel mixer, red 10%-blue 90%. Both should total 100%.

@des151:
Thank you. This helps and the result is better but I still need to adjust brightness/contrast & desaturate to get the brownish look. My output still looks too yellow/orange.

drouber,
Set your curves layer to luminosity, this should give you a brownish look.

Big thanks to all who replied. Problem solved. With all the hints given here, I finally managed to get the look I was looking for.
