I am trying to find the proper solution for creating matchprints for my editorial photography clients. What are you all using? Colorburst, ImagePrint, something else? Paper?

We use Colorburst at our studio on the 3800 and have it simulate gracolg7 at perceptual and print on epson's commercial proofing paper semimatte. We had a color specialist from a local printing press come in and test our setup and it was nearly spot-on.

What are you trying to do? Simulate final print color?

Using colorburst on the new medium format epsons with the proofing paper it is SWOP certified proofing system, and from the looks of my sample prints it would make a spectacular contract proof!

I would assume it would be close to the same on the 9800, i'm not sure how much the new vivid magenta ink is making a difference.

we had a 9800 at a previous job but i can't remember which RIP we were using, it was set up to match the Kodak Approval but we mainly used the epson for internal proofs and for the low paying jobs...

Thanks everyone. Looks like from the posts here and those I've spoken with colorburst is the move. I basically need a swop cert. setup to be able to hand off matchprints to my clients clients.

thx.

colorburst is good. if you need proofing color bars, then you need the "plus"-version of the rip.
