View Full Version : My first retouch :) Stefan032 12-20-2007, 03:54 PM Hi,
I am photographer, and I want to learn to retouch my photos.
This is my first try, I hope, that next time will be beter :) Swampy 12-20-2007, 05:58 PM Very good skin work, Stefan. I'm not sure I like the darker roots. dotnicui 12-20-2007, 07:06 PM Hi, very good at skin, but the edge of the hair is a little bit fake. Forbidden 12-20-2007, 07:50 PM Not a bad first attempt. You made her a little "to thin" IMO. She didn't look heavy to me before. I may have just slimmed the face down a little ... but it really depends on what your objective for the image was.
You may also want to consider taking down those sideburns a bit =) Alison 12-20-2007, 10:32 PM Hi Stefan,
My problem is the image itself (original), what is the point of it ? Is our focus on the face, the sweater, the cleavage .......
I took it in a whole other direction ..... Insensitive. 12-21-2007, 11:04 AM I personally dont see the point in photoshopping a photo if the person looks like a completely different person afterwards. The skin was nice, actually everything you did was nice. It just seems like if anyone asks you who your beautiful model was, whats the point in telling them if she looks nothing like that. I could see if this was more of a photo manipulation or something for art. But either way, you did a good job. I just would try and have my model look like the same person before and after. Stefan032 12-21-2007, 04:29 PM I agree with all your opinion. This is just practice, I wanted to do extreme retouch, just to practice. This image is crop of this image in attachment. Crop is 3:2, I did not care for crop, Allison, your crop is much better. Thanks for all comments. I hope that my next work will be better. I am beginner in the photography and the retouching.
If you can suggest how to improve this retouched photo, I will be thankful. Insensitive. 12-21-2007, 04:46 PM Youve done an excellent job, you are right in the middle. And if thats what you wanted, youve done it. But if your ever doing a photo and are going to give it back or show it to the person afterwards. Just try and make sure its still them, ya know. Not trying to be rude or mean. But i know it can lower peoples self esteem when they look completely different and nothing like that photo, as if they werent pretty enough, etc. But like i said. Beautiful job. Stefan032 12-21-2007, 05:00 PM Thanks, I could not agree more ;)
Next photo will be better it that way, I promise that. Alison 12-21-2007, 05:42 PM Hi Stefan,
The second image you posted wasn't very large
Is this a Boots and Jeans commercial ? nope, it's about that very pretty young lady and this image is not aiming to enhance her. I don't know if you took the photo, but if you did, try and think about what you are trying to tell the audience. There is little point in enhancing an image that can't really be enhanced all that well - if you know what I'm trying to say.
That pose makes her bum look a little big, which I'm sure it is not ;) I didn't slim her down though, but I did try to give the image a point of focus - which I don't think I succeeded in doing. I also didn't tidy up her chest area. Insensitive. 12-21-2007, 06:01 PM Nothing wrong with a big butt lol.
Atleast not in the african american community. shaybshay 12-21-2007, 06:11 PM "Hi,

Nothing wrong with one in my house either - can't say about the rest of Australia  Forbidden 12-22-2007, 02:16 PM Honestly your best bet when asking someone to critique your work is to outline your objectives with the image so people can better evaluate the work done. Just remember that re-touching doesn't always have to be "extreme" ... sometimes an image may need just a little tweaking. I think that is a mistake a lot of new re-touchers make. | |
