This my first question on this site so Hello all and thanks for any advice. As you can see on this photo the orange part on the right needs to go. I'm not asking anyone to do it, I'll have to do it anyway. So is this fix mostly just a matter of cloning? Or are there any other techniques you might know of to make the job a little easier? I would use the curves & masks first, to get as close as possible to the good areas and then use cloning + anything else.

I duplicated the background and desaturated... then using selections and curves I equalized the luminosity the best I could then cloned some of the wall.

I then changed the layer mode to luminosity and used blank layers set to color to paint the hue in.

Cropped and then duplicated the background layer. Image>apply image, use the background layer, blue - darken 100%.

Curves adjustment layer, raised midpoint till I liked it. Used the mask to bring back some of the dark at the right hand of the image. Used levels adjustment layer and brought the individual channels into the majority of the information. New blank layer, sampled the colour from the wall, set mode to colour and brushed back in wall. New blank layer, normal mode, use blackish colour to bring back colour to the right of the boy, opacity about 60%. New blank layer, mode normal, opacity 60% brush white (t-shirt) New layer, colour mode, opacity 25%, red (t-shirt sleeves). New layer, blend mode colour, used a blue from the mothers trousers to paint the boys shorts.

Flattened image, used another curves adjustment to lighten the image - so you can see all my horrible errors :tongue: - Duplicated that layer and inverted the mask -only painted on the lady's face to bring it out of the shadow, did small sections of the boys face as well.

Chose a terrible pink for their skin LMAO and different colours for the hair, just to give you an idea that you can go much further than this if you want to. Used neat image to smooth the image but took the opacity way down to about 25%. Duplicated b/ground layer, set mode to overlay, used filter>other>high pass, set this to about 1, add layer mask, invert layer mask, use white to brush in the areas you want sharp - adjust opacity to suit.

There is a bit of camera shake going on near the boys right, so you could clone that out, and some dust and stuff there that needs to be fixed up, but overall that is about what I would have done for the big stuff.

It sounds a little complicated, but it isn't really.

Man you guy's and gal's are helpful. Just goes to show I have a lot to learn about Photoshop. Where do you all learn this stuff from, besides here I mean. Anyway thanks so much for helping.
