I am attaching a 1900 era photo of a family member. We were only able to take a digital camera shot from the framed early photo. Unfortunately, the photo picked up the flash of the digital camera. What do I need to do to fix this photo? I am a new member and this is my first attempt at correcting one of many black and white and color images. I use Photoshop 7 and Photo Impact Pro 8.5...Thanks

Repeat after me .... The crop tool is my friend, the crop tool is my friend
Just being silly.
Crop the image, which will take out a lot of the flash. I cropped, used levels adjustment layer (individual channels), change blend mode to multiply, use gradient mask to darken flash area.
I used neat image but haven't fixed up any of the other stuff. You'll need to clone or patch whatever is left of the flash area.

Thank you, Alison...for your suggestions. I was not familiar with "neat image". It looks like a helpful tool/filter which I will order.
Thanks
