lol well I wasn't really pointing at MM, although I've had numerous negative remarks, sort of mentioning it about all forums in general...:P

I'm just getting into retouching myself, did you goto school or are you self-taught?

Bianca Carosio

I'm more self taught then anything. I'm graduating from Visual Effects and Motion Graphics..so in a way what we do in video has help me understand the concept of lighting and Keying (green screen)...so that knowledge has helped me further/ and better understand re-touching..then just blur/clean up imperfections.

Also I work for this high end Architectural Rendering company..check it out I do the still renders.. www.spine3d.com

Nice work Bianca, overall I loved most of your pieces. There were a few that I think you went a little too far in removing some detail where it made the face look flat or a little fake but very nice overall.

Thank you! I sometimes did things I as well may not of liked because it was something that was asked for...but overall I think it's a nice port! lol

Def. I know what you mean. I have had some clients that wanted to do some crazy stuff LOL. My portfolio has a similar before & after setup, I didn't even realize that till now.

Don't get me wrong this is really intended as constructive: For me the retouches are far too plastic doll looking.

In detail - its always a mistake to take away ALL texture beneath the eyes. Some yes, but not all. There is a natural bag under the eye, which should still be visible, but perhaps/sometimes less visible than shot. This is your main, but common mistake. There are many retouchers making this mistake, some clients are apparently asking for it, I admit but its usually the retouchers own fault. The skin also has been heavily worked but is too smooth. Retaining proper texture in the pores but making them even should be your task - not dodging each pore more or less flat.

In the end the overall effect of this doesn't make the result more attractive, only less so, leading to "Chemical Peel Alien". Fair enough there are professionals doing the same thing, but making the model LESS attractive I think will eventually lead to a backlash against this kind of retouching will be felt by everyone, and no-one will benefit.

While appreciating some of the craft and time that I know goes into what you have done, I think its worth pointing these things out.

Nice work Bianca, I've been a fan of yours on MM for a while now, of both your modeling port as well as your retouching port. Both quite nice! :).

Love your work. I see you have posted there that you have no tutorials. Hopefully in time you will share something here. I would like to learn how to give someone a tan. : )
