I've been playing around with fluid dynamics lately and I seem to have some success with it. I originally aimed for the ripple effect look that'd go with my wine glass from my other post, but I ended up with this.

I also rendered out a 4-seconds animation of the liquid HERE (http://pixilism.com/liquid/liquid.html)
The render has no motion blur since I didn't intend it for production purpose and to speed up the rendering process.

interesting animation...

The animation is suppose to simulate liquid inside of a swirling wine glass (or a gigantic containter in this case) and the liquid suddenly gets dumped out of the glass. I didn't include the wine glass in the render, 'cause i only wanted to see the liquid by itself.

That is actually pretty sweet. Could you sharpen it up at all? It looks like a Koi, did you notice that?

I had some motion blur going with that render. I can easily turn it off and everything will be in focus. I'll do a render tonight after work. A koi, eh? I suppose it does from that angle. You just gave me an idea...thanks.

Here's a render with no motion blur.

Pretty cool! I like the luminosity and radiosity that you were able to get into it.

I would try half the distance between sharp and blurred. Damn, I am picky:).
It is cool though, I think you should go ahead and make it a koi in a pond.

I played around with them a bit.

Dave,
I'm pleased to get something like this without an elaborate lighting setup. I used a HDR image for the refraction only. This HDRI rendering is really impressive.

Sweetlight,
That's cool...and great imagination. I was thinking along the line of liquid morphing into the fish or the fish dissolving into liquid. I have to build a 3D model of the fish for that, which could take some time.
