I have been using Photoshop for a few years but never to retouch photographs. I would like to get an idea of what I should improve. I used the D&B technique that is explained in the tutorial section.

I had some trouble when it came down to removing the little hair the grow above her upper lip and along the ridge of her nose. If anyone has suggestions upon how to do this with out blurring it would be helpful.

why did the after shot shift color?

Although my monitor is not color calibrated. It seemed as if there was a green cast to the whole image therefore I applied a curves adjustment layer to get rid of the cast. Did I go to far with the curves layer and add a new color cast?

Thank you for the help pointing out the color cast. If anyone would be nice enough to say in their opinion which areas of skin in the After image could use more work?

You've done a good job getting rid of most of the obvious flaws. Now you need to dive in a little deeper and go for the less glaring blemishes. For example, go for the dark "dots" along her nose and on her right cheek.

Also there appears to be some dark blotchiness near the part in her hair where I believe you healed away some stray hairs.

Other than that just try to even out her skin tone in general, making sure that there aren't any sudden or blotchy shifts in shade. Also try to correct the color cast a bit and I think you'll be doing quite well!

ok you have the basics down, start trying to do more like enhancing the hair to low flawless and enhancing or adding makeup. i know try making her lips not so dry and scabby. i dare you to add a glossy lip and smokey eyes to her.!!!!!! go the distance!!! make me proud!

I worked to even out the skin. I burned in the eyeliner that she already had on ,add a curves layer to create glossy lips, tried to remove the color cast. I know I removed some from her hair.

I really wanted to add new lower eyelashes but had a really hard times using any of the eyelash brush I found. I would really I appreciate it if someone could give me some advice about making the eyelash brush look more natural. Mine always looked painted on and flat.

1st I have to tell you I really like what you did to the photo, you have a talent for it for sure. As far as the lashes I can try and help there. 1st it is important to have a great set of lash brushes. When I put lashes on I always have to play with the skew, scale and other transforming tools. It is very important that they fit the shape of the eye. 2nd I play around with the opicity and finally and the slightest gaussian blur. I put bottom lashes on and one top lash. I think the retouch itself is going good but the models face needs to be a bit brighter. I used a curve (picture attached below) for the whole image and used a masked softlight layer curve with a mild s curve to darken up the hair a bit.

I did a quick retouch but hopefully this will give you an idea on where to start. and as far as the color I think it's just right, my sample is C:5, M:20, Y:23 on the forehead. The version you posted is heavily cast with magenta, you may want to look into a hardware calibrator.

Thank you for the comments. I will definitely go back and lighten up the face and darken the hair. My next purchase is an Eye One calibrator to correct my monitor.
