Am at my wits end......

I took part in a charity rally, driving from London to Mongolia last summer and the pictures are my absooulte treasures. Or were.

When we were downloading the pictures onto the computer there was a powercut. The majority of the pictures are great, but around 20 simply wont open up.....

The card had to be reformatted after or it would not work in any camera. We tried a card recovery thingy but this didnt find anything, so i now have a folder with a load of files i cant open.

I have tried....
1 - renaming the whole file (ext included)
2 - opening up in explorer, firefox, paint, photoshop7, word (input into) and all fail.
3 - Hitting the computer

Is there anyone willing to lend a hand/have a look?!

Please?!?!?

Yours hopefully

I can try...

Do you have a place that you could upload them to so I can take a look at them?
Don't upload them here since it limits you to 100k each.
Send me a private message once you have them uploaded somewhere.

There is hope for you: I managed to salvage 2 or 3 images. Unfortunately I'm using a trial copy and it limits what I can do.

The software that I used is called JPEG Recovery Pro and you can find it here:
http://www.hketech.com/JPEG-recovery/

There is also an online service that has had very good reviews:
http://www.impulseadventure.com/photo/fix-corrupt-jpeg-photo.html

Good Luck!

[EDIT]

Something else that occurred to me: even after formatting the memory stick, there are utilities that will recover files from it if, no other files have been saved to it.

I've had this happen with JPEGs stored on an external hard drive (which were also backed up safely on CDs, so no worries). Seems the header gets corrupted. If recovery software doesn't work, see if you can learn to hack the headers to restore the information (I did not get that far in my understanding of the problem).
