Cod Liver Oil. Thanks for the play. Peter Dron58 01-31-2008, 11:52 AM Fine fish bottle in watercolor. Vitali. Steve Conway 01-31-2008, 01:08 PM SL I promiosed you a story about the fish bottle. Well Peter stole my thunder a bit here....:depressed...(only kidding)...but never-the-less I shall carry on. The bottle indeed is a Cod Liver Oil bottle. As a child, every fall and all through the winter months, every day my mother would pour a goodly sized tablespoon of this elixer for me to drink. Was supposed to keep away colds. And maybe it worked. Heaven knows how many colds I would have had if it had not been for cod liver oil. I think I can even recall the brand. If memory serves, it was Mckesson & Robbins. Cod liver oil. When I was pregnant timing was very critical as we were on change of station orders to move. My doctor tried to induce labor the "natural" way by having me drink 3oz of cod liver oil, wait and if that didn't get things started come back the next day. We went through this four 4 straight day. It was NOT pleasant, but there was something funny. The young Sargent that manned the pharmacy at the hospital, made comment the first day, "Mam, I don't envy you having to drink this stuff". He became more sympathetic each day when I approached his window for another 3 oz. The fourth day he said, "Mam, I'm trained to fight wars, but you have got to be the bravest person in the world to drink this stuff every day. I hope you don't ever have to come back to my window for it again!". LOL summerz 01-31-2008, 02:23 PM I took it to the glass blower lol. Claimed it worked. Funny world.
