now I know gobos are made for hiding lens flares, but i forgot mine.. so could i get some tips on how to remove this flare?

It's flare and that's a great photo. ;) Add a layer, change to blend to colour and paint over with the correct colours, then burn to darken those areas.

ive never used the color blend mode before, is there any previous thread in here explaining some of that stuff, like what each blending mode will do or is used for?

Katrin Eissmann's book on masking has an excellent discussion of the blending layers.
