Hey all. I'm a newbie to this forum, but I have decent working knowledge of Photoshop.

I'm curious to see if anyone here has an idea how the artwork on this site was done. I'd like to do something similar for an architecture project I'm working on.

Other similar images can be found here: http://www.raymonddesigns.com/c-5-lds-temples.aspx

I'm sure some grunge brushes were used, but I'm not sure about the overall texture on the image as well as the highlights and shadows.

Hard to say without a closer look...

You might want to take a look at this plugin (Vanderlee Old Movie). Inexpensive and can be used to make images look "real old & faded":

http://www.vanderlee.com/plugins_oldmovie_examples.html

This plugin, a little grunge brushwork, curves and/or highlights/shadows effect for some contrast I'd say be in the ballpark if I undertood where you want to go.

Does this help?

How about trying out some grunge textures over a sepia photo?
google "gunge textures" there are loads out there it will just be finding the right one

Here's a link to some i found earlier and a grunge texture
brush
http://veredgf.fredfarm.com/textura/index.html

and here is a link to the artists deviantart page so you sort of get the idea although it is a different topic covered
http://veredgf.deviantart.com/art/Cooking-Pot-textures-39096578

and one very hasty attempt with a grass texture i had on my hard drive again done just so you get a idea

It will be interesting to see what you come up with, i am now off to look through the deviant page as it looks quite interesting ( distracted again :grin: but a welcome distraction )
