I got this shot on a walk around at a local animal rescue farm. This guy captured my heart. He had so much personality.

But I like it. The barn this lovable guy was in was full of cobwebs, rust, dust, hay and manure. That barn had to be 80 years old so there's plenty of room for textures.

Couldn't quite decide how to crop, ended up with a couple of versions.
So I did 2 different renderings.

1) AHB
2) Smudge

Both with heavy wet-paint post-processing.

Thanks, swampy :bigthmb:

I had not thought of camels obviously as Peter posted i thought of chimpanzee's :lol::lol:

I think both of yours are terrific and the crop really sets them off

aaawwww, da pup-pie!

i love great danes! i had some friends i used to go see almost as much for their dane as for them, but you have to be careful around danes; they are very dangerous, for if they dont lick you to death, they'll run you to death playing with you :)

ok, that last one didnt go over so well, so let's try this again.

i remembered something i was taught about creating art a long time ago. the idea was to say everything you wanted to say in the work and then simply remove the bits that didnt hurt what you were saying. i always thought that was pretty sage advice. so, i wanted to bring out the 'sad' in this canine face and then simply removed the bits that didnt really add to that. i could have removed the paws, but somehow they added to that sadness, being an almost begging pose, so i left them in :)

I think you are absolutely right, Craig. The paws do add credence to the sad eyes giving the over all feeling of "let me out of here, play with me," This dog captured my heart. The lady that owns this rescue operation (Sandy) was called out of town on an emergency so the dog was confined while she was gone. The care taker said if he wasn't confined he'd wander off trying to find Sandy because they were inseparable and she usually took him everywhere.

ah! so 'sandy' is the one the dog is pining for. yes, there's a ton of personality there. easy to fall in love with. great danes are like that :)
