Hi guys,

I remeber reading a post on here that talked about taking a retouching class at Slickforce Studio in LA(www.slickforce.com). After reading my interest was peeked so I decided to go take the class myself so I could report back and share the experience (but not the techniques, lol!). I must say that it was the best thing I have ever done since becoming a photographer. My retouching is much better and I have become a lot faster when editing in Photoshop. Before I was taking hours on images but now I'm back down to about 10-15 minutes per image and the results are amazing.

I have booked more clients because of my ability as a retoucher now and people really love my work because of it. Is the class worth? Very much so. I took the eight hour class and learned more in those eight hours than I had known from over two years of using Photoshop. So many shortcuts and ways of speeding myself but achieving the results I desired.

The teacher, photographer Nick Saglimbeni, really does show you everything he knows about retouching and more. He walks you through it and you can even bring your own photos to edit (how cool is that?) or use his (which are rediculously good!). I decided to bring my own so I can see how it would work for me. I was vry very pleased with the results!

So I know a lot of you out there are concerned like I was about spending money on "another Photography course" that doesn't do anything for you, but trust me on this one guys, the class is worth. I would recommend it to anyone if you have the time and money!

Oh yeah, you can see some of my work at www.jamiyawilson.com and see what I've been doing using my new "SKILLS"!

Gee thanks! All my work on my site now is a result of taking the class. I just took it back in January. Feel free to stop by anytime and visit my blog if you want to chat or get tips on stuff!

I've been to that site before to bad they don't show before and afters!
Do they teach you to blur the skin or dodge and burn? Because in some of the images it seems like their is bluring on the skin, or maybe it's just me! =)

Greetings,
George

They teach a little of both. I thought it would be blurring but its a lot different. But its not those stupid "Gaussian Blur" techniques you see all over the place. And it is nondestructive editing using lots of layers and a few "trade secrets".

I gave them a call and their Masters, one-on-one class is $3500. It would be great to spend 8 hours with an expert learning all of the secrets. However, the only photography I do has to do with objects (library artifacts) and oversize documents and photos for a public library. I would not need the techniques for my work and would have no other place to use them. Interesting however.
