Looking through photos shot last summer and thought these antelope might make a good art project.

And here is a watercolor to start things off.............

thanks, alan :)

i did two here. well, three, but i didnt like the other one very much :)

the first is just a simple framing. sometimes that's all you need.

and the second is a filter forge filter of sketch and color.

What magnificent animals... Thanks for the play, Alan.

Impressionist (what else?) applied to multiple layers, merged, sharpened and framed.

Another great photo Allen!

Palms, ditto what everyone else said! :)
Did you paint that on some kind of stone texture?
Very inventive!

Here's mine.

Thank you Jordan I did use a stone texture but over the top, then faded it over the antelopes a bit

Wow, great stuff!!

Everyone has fine renditions.

DannyRaphael, your work with impressionist never ceases to amaze me.

Kraellin, the simplicity in just adding a frame is very nice.

PeterS, your cool, cool colors make for a cool, cool rendition.

and Palms1, Love it!! How did you achieve it.

Alan

thank you Alan

What i did was to use a ahb texture brush all over the image then used the history brush at about 50% on a seperate layer so that i could edit it if needed to, then used the dodge and burn tools to emphasis some bits
and finished with a texutre on top and probably set it to hard light ( not too sure on that one)

thank you, alan :)

yes, sometimes a frame is all you need, though i agree, some very nice renditions here :)

Plenty of nice work...my interpretation uses the impressionist plugin.

I had to take one more crack at this nice image. It also is used the impressionist plugin. Alan

Alan- simply fabulous as always, I think you are a magician with Impressionist.

Do you add colors to the photo before you run impressionist, or are you somehow bringing those nice colors out by using impressionist? I hope that makes sense :)

Jordan, thanks for your very generous comments. I generally use the following to alter an image's color palette: 1) match color, 2) gradients, and 3) hue/saturation adjustment layers. I used 2 or possibly 3 layers of the latter for the antelope images. In this regard, the hue adjustment provided a new color which was then painted onto the image using a "hide all mask" (that is filling the layer's white mask with black). There are probably better ways to create a new color palette, but these seem to work for me. Hope this helps. Alan

Craig and lkroll, thank you for your comments. Most of the styles I use are custom or standard styles that I have modified. These are usually painted onto the image using masks. One of the styles I used on the antelope images is called ac bold and is attached in a zip file. Alan
