Thought this was a wonderful picture to paint. Have fun!

This is one of the best images I've seen for challenges. My interpretation used only the impressionist plugin. The colors of the original are simply elegant.

Alan, that is just perfect! Glad you liked the image. :-)

Alex... You really brought out all the color.

That's cool, Alex. I see lots of details that I couldn't make out in the original.

I'll second Alan's sentiment Swampy. This is a superb photo. I enjoyed working with it.

Your pleasure is evident in that rendering, Lonnie. :-)

Swampy very nice find.
I'm not just being polite here, I like all these efforts, not a single bad one there.
Nice ones you guys.

Well done, Peter!

Kim, hope you won't get offended, but I find the midtones on yours a little dark. Otherwise, great.

I kept trying to find those darned mountains that LonK found, but finally gave up

Nice work folks, and thanks to Swampy :bigthmb:

It's not fair to single out just one, but I must say that Lonnie really caught the "mood" of the image.

I went a bit overboard (groan) as usual.

that is one of the best photos i've seen in a while. when i first opened it i thought it was a painting and every time i first open it again, it strikes me that way again, especially if you dont expand the image. i'm impressed!

Excellent picture to play with Swampy. With all the great renditions it would be cool to see what someone could do putting all the pics in one document and playing with different blending modes and opacities. I flipped mine just to screw up that idea:)

No I agree Swampy, it only really hit me once I'd posted it on here. It's also lost a fair bit of detail, I assume due the file compression. Never mind, you can't win them all!

Thanks for your constructive criticism Swampy, I went away and I now have a couple more offerings for you! Lonnie, love your version by the way.

You folks have done just wonderful work!

Kim, I really like the first of your second efforts.
Ro, I like the "fog" effect you managed to achieve. I've seen fog that thick around here.

Thanks Ro. Fabulous wash rendition you did -- great depth. Thanks kimlou. Your second attempt is definitely an improvement.

Palms... I love the very delicate work on the boats. Lovely!
Gilkster, even a touch of grunge goes good with this scene.

This is an awesome photo Swampy, thanks for the find! I agree with Craig, it's almost a painting in itself.

Everyone's versions are wonderful! I know that's lame, but it is also so true :)

It started out as a watercolor and obviously went in another direction :)

Good catch, Swampy. No end of great work on this one.

My humble contribution is a CS2/Painter/Impressionist deal. I wish I'd had more time to devote. ...looking now at the uploaded version I'm less than thrilled with it. (Sigh)

steve, absolutely excellent!

just one thing, and we'll chalk this up to personal preference rather than critique, the white between the mast lines, to me, would have been better colored in.

but regardless, love it :)

this was a blend of several filter forge filters applied to the base image and then taken back to Paint Shop Pro.
