Hi,
I am new member, and this is my first post here
I work a lot with photography and design, but this is the first time I have to deal with this kind of retouch...
So, is there some tutorial, cause I don`t like result of my work... It became illustration...

What exactly are you wanting to do with the original image as far as retouching goes, change color, fix flaws?

i usually never do this kind of retouch, so i don't know if its good, but i just used your illu. and the before pic, and place them over each other with some different layers.

this was btw. 10 min work.

@ kona
well, I want to correct colors, fix flaws and get that smooth look. this is for print.
ruud92 made it more realistic.

I think, if you go through with your illustration, you still could get something nice out of it...but I agree, it s more work!

A hard, shiny metal surface will not reflect soft gradients. It might stretch and distort the surrounding enviornment, but it will capture the various shapes, and, more important, the edges between them.

Hi there, I have been a retoucher in the fashion & jewelry business since 94 the problem with your ring is that the original image is bad. Try to get the best shot u can before you start to retouch.

I agree! I work as a digital artist/senior retoucher in beauty/fashion and jewelry.... lots of jewelry. I also stylize the jewelry and art direct the photo shoots and I would never accept the quality of the piece you presented here. If you start with great photography, retouching is not that difficult, but just like any other retouching it takes practice to master.
