Ever been to the Grand Canyon? I was about 18 years old when I went and even at that cynical age all I could say was "WOW". My son took this pic on his 'pilgrimage' to nature's version of the "Big Dig"
I went to LAB color and brought up the colors a lot, then back to RGB. Sharpened and then did the Notepaper filter and set to overlay. Adjusted the blown out sky to a soft sunset color.
Enjoy!

Hopfully a watercolor on textured paper will suffice Dee Dee. :)

I was also 18 when I visited the Grand Canyon, before I went there I think I even made a comment along the lines of "why would I want to go look at a big crack in the ground?" Of course, I found out why when I got there... I was mesmerised! A stunning place to see 'in the flesh'.

The one place I think everyone would like to visit.
Thanks Swampy

Almost 'jewelesque', Peter. Very unique look.
OB... Good one. The foreground rocks have a real feeling of weight and grit.

Thank you Swampy..
You seem to always have something nice/positive to say.. A rare and welcome trait in the world we live in today

The people standing to the left in the shot give you an idea of just how gigantic this place is. The ranger told us, (when we were there a few years ago), that many of the animals and the vegetation living near the top are completely different from those you see near the bottom. Quite a sight.

Chalk it up to my southern upbringing and my parents who preached "If you don't have something nice to say..." LOL
Great brush strokes Steve.

Wow! I went to the Grand Canyon for the first time at the beginning of the year. It is SPECTACULAR!
I really like Kim's and Peter's pictures. Anyone care to share techniques?
Thanks,
Jeff

I'd be happy to share my technique but I'm not all that good at remembering how I got to the end result. I'll have a go though! I used a Photolab filter called pseudocolour to enhance the colours, the sky was imported from another pic and I thought the greenish colour was a good contrast to the pink. I used the water paper filter and did various layer blends (this is where I get lost!). Finally applied the stone texture. Hope this helps!:)
