Janet Petty 03-09-2008, 08:58 PM I'm not going to post this in the competition thread because I took it in 2007. It is one of the best light/dark lighting shots (with some manipulations) that I've come up with in a long time. This man is one of my favorite subjects. His face is so gentle and kind. I haven't seen him for months now. This competition theme this month reminded me I need to check up and see if he is still around. http://www.retouchpro.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=51052&d=1191713919 DWThomp 03-29-2008, 10:52 PM 1. DWThomp won the toss. Ansel Adams would be proud of this one. The black and white conversion is superb. The story it tells is poignant and relevant. I love the composition. You got this one at the right time of day. WOW! Thank you so much for the highest compliment. It's funny, because this is not the shot I originally envisioned for this month's contest. I was excited when I saw the theme as I knew we were going back to this church and had another shot planned. We were there 2 years ago and there is this fantastic iron fence with an angel inside of the small area. I had shot it then, but unfortunately my portable hard drive corrupted almost 2 days of shooting. The bad news is that then we were there in the afternoon and this year we got there in the morning. To get the shot of the angel that I wanted I had to shoot straight into the sun. I tried different angles, but was not pleased with any of them. I noticed the shadow of the cross and took a few shots and liked this one. Here is one of the angel, although I'm not overly pleased with it. Janet, thanks again for the very nice compliment. It made my day! |
