This is a very general question, but with a very specific goal. I'm wanting to post-process my photographs, using CS3, to make them look like the photos in the link I've attached.

Let's just say that I'm definitely not a beginner when it comes to photography, so save your fingers the typing by not telling me "it's the lighting, etc, etc, etc, that gives that effect".

I am, however, only at an intermediate level when it comes to Photoshop.

I'm not able to describe in words what this "style" of post-processing is - you'll just have to see for yourself.

If there are any Photoshop gurus and graphics arts gurus- and I mean gurus - who KNOW how this is done and are willing to share... please do!

Let the site load and click on a few photos to get a good average idea of what I'm referring to.

I've read that before. That high-pass filtre effect isn't so useful. It's either a hit-or-miss thing. It doesn't work for all photos. If you notice the poster's original photo that he used as an example - it already looks "fake" to begin with and not straight out of the camera. If you scroll through the other posters' attempts at this, 90% of them are disasters.

Also, that high-pass filtre effect makes the image lose a LOT of quality.

If you notice the images on www.theorangeapple.ca, they're still as sharp and detailed as ever.

No, it ain't no Dave Hill look. His stuff is overdone. This is like the watered-down version of Dave Hill's stuff.

So, nobody knows? That's the problem with a site like this. You've got a ton of people who know but won't tell.
