I'm new to both retouching and to photoshop cs3 extended. I will be asking a lot of questions!

The first, at what resolution should I scan original black and white pictures? Some date back to 1930, but they are in good condition. I have scanned in about 20 pictures at 300, but want to make sure this is the proper setting.

TIA

300 ppi is a good starting point, it depends on your final output and whether you want to enlarge the photos...

Janie, the Forum has search capability so you may want to STF for "scanning photos". There have been several topics on scanning.

My goal is to take all the pictures and make an album digitally, so the resolution does matter. The pictures for the most part are clear once I open them in CS3.

Thanks, I just went searching - looks like 600 is the best :)
