I was playing around with the web hosting on my .mac, using it as a sandbox, but now i'm ready to get a real host and have conflicting opinions on the color scheme. I like the way it is now, but then again I don't know if it just doesnt work. I'm not a fan of brown but for some reason I like the color combo. I was also thinking on doing a white background and replacing the cyan type with a charcoal gray.

Images are more less placeholders, the homepage image and the 3rd and 4th photo on the retouching are not mine, just threw them in to get a layout going.

Also on the retouching page, how do you like the layout /function?(rollovers on main image) would a scrolling area/box be better for this?

I was planning a left/right scrolling box for the design and photography pages.

Any comments or critiques welcomed.

Adam, I like the look, but I would go with more of a teal blue green for the lighter letters. It's a color compliment to brown and you can play off the bluish greens in the marble in the floor.

Thanks swampy, I'll try a more teal color and see what happens.

Any other comments welcome, i'm going to flesh it out on fri.

I'm digging the brown. It's different from all the other B&W sites. Something about the font is a little off, though. Maybe it's too bold/distracting? I can't put my finger on it... but it draws my eye away from the images. Also, the reflection on the first page doesn't work w/brown.

Thanks Little Fisher, would a daker tone of orange be less distracting? and also is it the AdamBrodzinski or all the orange letters that are distracting?

Thanks again,
Adam

I think it's not so much the orange, but more the arial black is too big and bold.

Maybe try a different font... or a smaller size.

Just my opinion and taste, though.

Thanks for your opinion LF, I can see now that its a bit bold and distracting. I am working on a different design for the site all together, but thats on the backburner for the moment. The font is actually Helvetica with tight kerning but it is indeed bold.

I got the gallery's up and everything seems to be working now, just need to get a better home screen and some better work in there :) www.adambrod.com

The Javascript for the retouching rollovers seem to be a bit buggy in Safari though, sometimes it will pop right up and other times it will have to reload it.
