I have to gas up the car today so I thought I'd post this, just for old times sake... I took this in Nov. 2002, a few months prior to the Iraq invasion.

Thanks for the photo, hawkeye. I have really cut back on my driving due to the rising gas prices. Like most, when it costs $50 to fill the tank, something else in the budget has to be cut.

Thanks for the reminder. My daughter asked me yesterday if I'd please pay for her gas this time because its so expensive, even with a Holiday coupon.

we won't see those prices again, but the war in Iraq isn't the main reason for the high prices...

heh. i can recall when gas was about 21 cents a gallon ...

Craig, I can well remember that also! I also remember telling folks at work (during the "gas crisis" of the early '70's) that "I refused to pay 50 cents a gallon for gas!" It wasn't quite 50 cents yet, and I hoped that the price would go down, but I ended up sitting in long lines happy to pay those "high prices" so that I could get to work because I wasn't willing to bicycle 10 miles one way and there were no bus lines anywhere near the job.

Of course, salaries have also gone up along with the price of gas and gas mileage has improved, but it's still shocking and somewhat painful to spend over $40 to fill the tank even when that tank will travel 400 miles.
