Hi,

We are a jewelry company that is currently photographing 5000 pieces at up to 3 images per piece. We need help with retouching them. The retouch must be of this quality, http://www.foreverflawless.com/RingsDetails/ZoomPopUp.aspx?RingId=399&RingPropId=963 .

We need to put on a white background, color correct, shadow, etc.. and size in 3 sizes beside the original. We need 400x323, 600x600, and 173x140.

Please let us know how much you will charge per 100 images and how fast you can do them. Please show a link to your portfolio. Also we will upload a shot for sampling.

Can you send me a hi-res file please and I will produce a sample.

The finished sample you show is sharp and is shot with a smaller aperture than you sample shot.

Are you original files saved as JPEG or do you have a RAW file to process from?

Complete white background with balanced shadow grounding the ring a little?

Supplied back as hi-res and low res for web?

I believe this this is the quality you are looking to accomplish. I didn't finish it but it gives you a good idea of my abilities.
Contact me if interested.

I don’t think they are really looking for someone, most likely shopping for price.
They have already full website, obviously somebody did the job, so they
probably were looking for cheaper labor. Regardless of retouching the image quality not going to be any better unless they invest in “better” equipment.

Could be. I didn't see anything on that site that looked like the piece they posted so was assuming it didn't belong to them and they were just using that site's jewelry as an example of the quality or retouching work they were looking for. Who knows.

How can you give somebody a compliment on retouching when:
1. They haven't finished the job and blow their own trumpet.
2. Over retouch and air brush. so the product looks illustrated/overworked and all depth and form has completely been lost.

Nais, I would stick to overworking happy snaps from the general public than getting involved in the adult world of retouching

Hey Mac,
Welcome to retouch pro. Obviously you don't understand that retouching is about what the client is looking to achieve-it's not about you! You might just check out the sample provided of the style they are looking for before you get your shorts in a wad! They definitely have a style in mind and that is what is of importance to me and would be to any retoucher. hmmmm. Members who have been on this site for a while, unlike yourself, are aware that sometimes job listings are just someone trying to get an image retouched free. So I generally don't finish an image. I do enough for them to see that I am capable and can give them the style of retouching they are looking for and send a PM with links to my work; I don't waste my time and I don't work for free. I have both received and given work from this site.

Also, let me point out to you, since you are new here, and don't seem to grasp upon the fact that this is not the "critique" forum and in this forum the "classifieds", nobody is interested in your unsolicited opinion. Even in the Critique forum don't expect people to buy into your gripping and criticizing without providing a better solution and an image to back it up. Good luck with that!

You speak of the "adult world of retouching" LOL "the adult world?" Please! Daily, I retouch jewelry and jewelry/beauty/fashion for a jewelry company here in sunny California and I also Art Direct their photo shoots. I guess that would qualify me in the "professional world of retouching"... but the adult world? Where is that exactly?

One last thing: You say in your only other post on this site, that you are a retoucher in London for some of the biggest brands, however, I see no images or website to back it up. Why don't you retouch the image posted for all of us so we can see just how it should be done? In other words: put up or shut up poser!

~Nancy

I would like to apologize for my post. I admit it was a bit on the strong size, but that is one one of my terrible traits that I speak my mind sometimes with out putting my brain in to gear, (and working late with a difficult client didn't help, sorry to write out my frustrations), so once again I apologize.

I do hope you will reply

Thanks Mac,
Apology accepted. Go over to the critique section where your help will be much appreciated. No problem with constructive criticism as long as you also suggest a solution. Just don't bash and run.
Really hope you enjoy the group here; a lot of great people and lots of resources.

Nancy
