HI there...
I recently bought new PC with the following specs:
CPU : Quad Core 2.4
RAM: 4 GB DDR2 800
HDD: 500 GB sata 2 16MB cache
graph: Ati x3870 512 MB

I usually work with large format files (60"x40 at 300 dpi), and i didn't had any problems with this machine.however recently a customer came in and ordered an extremely large format piece (250"x 150") the project included lot's of layers (over 400 ). First i run in to problem saving the file in psd,(save it in .psb) then trying to open the file was a total disaster over 30 min's(the file on disk was only 4 gb) then photoshop scratch goes over 80GB, and finally the PC crushes suddenly without any warning it just reboot it self...
I run cs2 on it...
So I'm asking is CS2 so Lame that can't support extreme large files, is CS3 better, should i upgrade...
Or i should just reduce the DPI to 150 and work with reduced final sizes (as I was before buying my new machine...

Thanks in advance...

a 20' banner...i would never work at 300dpi. 150 would prob be the highest i would go with it. just seems like major overkill.

i recently did a couple of 48' highway billboards for sprint, and they requested the size at 100% be 20dpi !
