That's great, Palms! You always manage to come up with just the right ideas for the submitted photographs.

I absolutely love number 3. The stare is just too familiar for words. Thanks for sharing. I just might get around to painting this one.

Great photos amica. Looks a lot like my cat, but fatter :)
Palms- I love what you did. I don't know much about art, but that feels very classical to me. I think it might be the colors you used.

Here's mine, still struggling with painter.

@ micajomc, he's not fat, he has got heavy bones :-) Sure like what you did to the eyes. Thanks for playing

Was that a thinly veiled challenge?? :)

Wow, Peter, that sure looks sweet...ever since I posted these pics I was thinking that you would either complain about "cat-pics" again or through something stunning in the croud...I really love that one. Mind sharing how you did it? I would really learn to reproduce and frame it :-)

Got to put the record straight here. I have never complained about "cat-pics", though there are some who seem to revel in them (name/s withheld for safety reasons). :) :)
As for how it was done, ask Palms to make a tute on smudging. Though I did add an extra bit of sharpening towards the end and then boosted the colours a little.

Glad you liked it

Thank you Amica and Gerry for your kind words, Gerry believe me it is luck :)

Jordan thank you as well, funny how colours can evoke a style isn't it ? your painter work is coming on (i havent even thought about going down that road )

Was that a thinly veiled challenge??

Now Peter i thought that you knew me better, A challenge wouldn't be "thinly" veiled now would it ! ! !

Now as for a tutorial we have been here before, There is nothing i could add to what is already out there, and i am still learning myself ( picked up another 2 or 3 tips this last week or so) But i do believe that the better way is by having a bash, posting what you have got (good or bad) and asking questions and learning from each other, So i will find a image and post in the smudging rescourses thread ( maybe a day or two due to Easter) and take it from there just let me know if you want human /animal / or flower or if YOU have a image post it there and we will see how we go ( and if you dont show up i will chase after you now that is a threat Peter :grin: )

@ ALL: Showed your work to my cat and now he walks around so proud, he never knew that he was looking sooo good.

@ Palms, thank you for your efforts, highly appreciated. If I may suggest a smudging resource I would prefer animals. I will post some higher quality pics so you may choose if you want ro use those.

Palms... Actually I didn't spend much time on this one...I'll try to remember...

Crop
Duplicate, CutOut Filter (faded) Texture craqleure (faded) Texture dirt (faded) Masked slightly around features.
50% Gray PWL layer to brighten up the eyes.

Maybe a couple other tweaks.. but memory fails.

Cats are "dark" and mysterious to me LOL..

Hey thats not bad. I didn't post my first efforts (blush def on)
If you want to boost the colours a bit try using Cybia's Vivida plug-in (its free and not bad)

Thank you for your kind words, Peter, they are indeed very encouraging. I can't seem to get the edges right, grmbl...have to practice a lot more. I am off to get that Cybia-thingy now...

Happy Easter to all of you and thanks for playing. I love your work.

You have done well Amica I have had a look to see if you have missed any bits but couldnt find any, It dosnt look like you have over smudged ( you get that when the opacity is too strong )
You have done well I will get round to doing something soon but have to much chocolate to eat ( and 11 to cook dinner for today:depressed)
