I'm looking to work in NYC for the summer and I was wondering if retouching houses ever hire people on for the summer? I'm in college right now studying photography but eventually I want to do high-end retouching.
Any thoughts or advice on the subject would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Devon

some places are actually very busy during the summer as they'll work on X-mas promotions, but these days it seems as if they wait till the late Sept. to start the holiday work...

Devon......it's not a job, but an internship that would expose you to the industry very well.......www.markusklinko-indrani.com

Contact every shop in NY - I'll bet you get a lot of positive response, when they see that a free body is coming into the house. You are talking about earning nothing, right?
Don't expect someone to sit down and teach you photoshop, though. That doesn't happen at any level.
Also, check out the summer curriculum at School of Visual Arts, Parsons, ICP, and the New School. They'll teach you, for a fee.

Thanks guys, all very good things to know.
I am looking for a paid job although I'm not looking for anyone to teach me photoshop.
I realize a paid summer job is probably not likely.
Thanks for the help!
