i was wondering if you can help my remove the shadow my mom (third from the left, upper row) it is on half a face and i got all smoojed with it and destroyed it a couple of times.

Hi, if you are using photoshop you could try to correct via Image/Adjustment/Shadow/Hightlights - or you could put a couple of duplicate layers in screen mode on top of original image - group them and add a black layer mask and paint the shadows with a soft white brush with low opacity away and adjust overall opacity of the group...Hope this helps some. If you are not using PS you'll have to wait for some expert over here :-)

I'm not sure what program you are using. but If you can open the image in camera raw. Create two differently exposed images and use soft light you can get a natural result.

A couple of observations first:

I used Photoshop, but any moderately sophisticated image editing package will do.

The actual workflow can be very different depending of the user. I happened to do it this way, others could use other methods.
open the image
duplicate the image layer.
Switch focus to this new layer.
Use the shadow/highlights tool to lighten it up. Adjust it until the face area in the shadow looks good to you. Ignore how bad the rest of the image looks for now...
With a very soft and large brush, erase everything else except what you have just corrected.
Even after this you may have to touch up that area. I used the clone tool to pick up some of the color from her left cheek.Good luck!
