Looks like you used LucisArt. (did you?)
To me the unnatural skin colors are a bit of a distraction, but I like the resulting tonal shifts and texture.
Consider converting your gritty look to high contrast BW... Here's an example to chew on.
Keep up the creative work. samoflak 03-22-2008, 09:32 PM thanks for checking it out :)
i agree about the skin tones, def gona have to have a play about with desaturating the entire image or certain areas
I keep seeing lucisart mentioned on the forums (im new to this, coming from a graphic design bg) but i honestly have no idea what it is :s .... some kind of Photoshop plugin i assume? I'll have to check it out.
Either way - naa, its just a bunch of diff layer blending modes and adjustment layers Sanda 03-22-2008, 10:29 PM Looks a little like a copy of a Beatles pose from the 1960's. Maybe you should look for a more original pose? samoflak 03-23-2008, 10:28 AM not my shot, i only did the Photoshop work on it Fsp1d3r 03-24-2008, 02:33 PM Hi Samoflak!
Great work. How did you get this result?
Have you got any tutorial about these effects?
Thanks. samoflak 03-24-2008, 09:04 PM thanks :) sorry, no tutorials... was a lot of trial and error with blend modes and adjustment layers which i then flattened and used as a luminosity layer over the original image, lots of cleaning up and colour adjustments on top of that and i got tho what you se e there. ....sorry thats not really very helpful , 3am here n i need sleep - i'll go back to my psd and edit this post tomorrow with a more detailed explanation DannyRaphael 03-24-2008, 11:18 PM I keep seeing lucisart mentioned on the forums (im new to this, coming from a graphic design bg) but i honestly have no idea what it is :s .... some kind of Photoshop plugin i assume? Either way - naa, its just a bunch of diff layer blending modes and adjustment layersYes, LucisArt is a plugin, an expensive one. On the right image it works well.
It renders a very distinctive look that many have attempted to replicate without success. Your results are very close. I look forward to reading your further details.
Here's a link: http://www.lucisart.com/ Fsp1d3r 03-26-2008, 07:49 AM thanks sorry, no tutorials... was a lot of trial and error with blend modes and adjustment layers which i then flattened and used as a luminosity layer over the original image, lots of cleaning up and colour adjustments on top of that and i got tho what you se e there. ....sorry thats not really very helpful , 3am here n i need sleep - i'll go back to my psd and edit this post tomorrow with a more detailed explanation
No problem, I'll try to do somethig similar.
Congratulations again, it was a great effect!! samoflak 04-03-2008, 09:52 AM ok sorry for the hold up, been busy as hell.
- background layer (leave this alone)
- background layer duplicated: - exposure adjustment so that there are no overly dark areas or light areas (i used this to get rid of the dark area at the bottom in the original)
- dupe previous layer - set blending mode to "color dodge"
- and again - set to linear dodge
- and again - set to overlay
( i did manual adjustments to all of these layers, but i can't remember what exactly)
flatten all these (not bg layer) and set the flattened image to "luminosity" over the original and your halfway there, from then on i did a lot of color adjustments and manual painting on top of that,
- also im not sure at what opacity i had the color and linear dodge layers set to - but it certainly wasn't 100%
sorry if its a bit vague but i hope this helps mayday 04-03-2008, 10:14 AM Hi samoflak I think the colour in the face is far to red should be more like attached samoflak 04-03-2008, 04:54 PM thank mayday, yeah i think your right - mind telling me what method you used to do that? Nanls 04-03-2008, 06:03 PM Here is my attempt. A liitle Lucis and other adjustment layers and tweaks.

Also you might want neutralize the black hair so theres no contaminating
colours in there, making sure the black hits the right values they are a little
