Hi,
I would greatly appreciate any suggestions and help with the sun damaged skin of the model. She is in her early 40s and a great versatile model, but has a considerable sun damage from her chin down. Is there anything that can be done?

This was a quick try. I loosely selected the area of her chest and then ran a selective color adjustment. In the reds I lowered the yellow (-46%) and black (-64%) and upped the magenta just a bit (+6%). I then ran a slight gaussian blur on just the mask to help blend the change in. I didn't spend a lot of time on it, but maybe this will help. Looking forward to how others handle it.

thank you very much for a detailed description - it looks much better already! Once the redness is gone, it looks like a more manageable texture.

I also did a quick fixer - might be too much, might be too little, but...

- duped layer and used soft clone brush on "lighten", then added a little bit of gaussian noise to try to restore some texture
- selective color adjustment layer with -25% black in the reds
- added a teensy bit of yellow in the cooler areas of the skin
- adjusted the opacity of the layers so it didn't look too retouched

Hope this helps. Also curious to see what others do.....

I was so afraid to ask for help before - but you guys are so helpful - thank you.

Selected damaged area copied to new layer.

Lightened new layer with levels adj layer
Desaturated reds by about 10% using Hue/Sat Adj layer

Could be done just using the 2 adj layers with suitable masks, but I prefer this way as I can fine tune by adjusting the opacity of the copied layer.

Tried the color deconvolution plugin.. (used to be free at 4n6site.com ... Now need to make a donation..your choice of amount)

Thank you so much for suggestions! I see that breaking down the problem area into shapes of colour is a good way of tackling it. I just saw spots and my head got stuck :)

I was also wondering how I can upload a larger version of a file - now I know. Thank you.

Forgot to mention... I used a mask on each layer so I could brush in/out what I wanted to change.
