Hey, I just joined and was messing around in a (beginning, sigh) Photoshop class and hadn't tried changing hair color and thought I might give it a shot. I only spent about 30 minutes on it but it was a good learning experience.

I'm really interested in creating tattoos on a person through Photoshop for my final and I somewhat attempted that with the vines on her back, does anyone have a better way of going about it? I simply messed with levels and then changed the layer blending, and I know it doesn't look realistic.

Makecourtesy,
Welcome to RetouchPRO! Good luck and enjoy your time here. Ask many questions!

Yep, her hair is a different color..

For Tats you might want to look into displacement maps or try this Tutorial "Applying a Realistic Tattoo" (http://psdtuts.com/photo-effects-tutorials/applying-a-realistic-tattoo/)

It would be nice if you post a less than 100K picture here so we could click a thumbnail preview and wouldn't have to go off site to evaluate your retouch work. That would also insure that in 5 years from now your work would be still viewable even though the link to it off site may have disappeared.

Hi Courtesy -

Actually thought you did well on the 'hair' part of it - yet the skin-tones need some work if you want it to look crisp and stylish...."real".... an overall Hue adjustment never works when dealing with the entire image,

Mask out skin and hair and then apply the tattoo the way you want the color to look. I know that sounds time-consuming. Take a brush and color it in?

Best bet is to grayscale the back image and reconvert it to color - then place, drag (whatever your preference is) the tattoo and warp it/ You have layer control over color now.

Best.
