Hi, it's my first time here and I'm trying to find out how (simple ok) to do the large background image with 2 or 3 related photos placed in the large one. I don't know what that's called. I only have Photoshop 7, could someone be nice & take me thru it?

Open PS7

Ctrl+N, select preset sizes>1024X768, mode RGB, contents White, OK

Ctrl+O, Open your other images

Press the V button on keyboard and click and drag a picture onto the white canvas you made at the start.. go back to the picture you just drug and click the big red X to close it..

repeat for the rest of the pictures you want in this grouping

You should now have only the new picture you made with a bunch of pictures jumbled up on it.. If you look at the Layers Pallet (Alt+W>Layers) you should see that each of the pictures is on its own layer

The picture you want to use as a background should be moved to near the bottom of the stack just above the layer called "Background" .. To move it in the layers pallet.. click on it where it says its layer number hold and drag toward the bottom.

Click on the eyeballs on all the layers above the one you just moved to turn off those layers

Make sure that the layer you moved to the bottom is selected (it should be blue.. if not click the layer number to select it)

Ctrl+T (to select the transform tool) click inside the picture to move it.. outside to turn it.. Click any of the little squares on the outside (handles) hold and drag to resize.. (If you hold the Shift key while dragging the corners the picture will stay proportional)

This will essentially become your background layer so fill all the white spaces with it

when it looks OK click the big black check mark in the menu bar on the right hand side.. Or.. double click in the picture to say OK

go back to your layers pallet and click the next layer number which will select that layer and make the eyeball visible again (the picture should appear over the picture you just finished with)

Repeat the Transform Process (Ctrl+T (to select the transform tool))
and arrange and resize till it is the way you want for the rest of the pictures
