This voting thread is now open and will close this Wednesday April 30th at 10pm (PDT)

You may view the entries in the Competition thread or all together here: -- http://www.pbase.com/shadepuppy/competition

Voting is open to all RetouchPro members.

Post your choices (in this thread) for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd by listing the member's name. If you want to explain your reasons, please do.

Vote for the 3 entries you like the best - you might consider how well a photo captures your attention, how well it deals with the subject, how well it fits with the chosen theme, how well the technical details are handled -- lighting, composition, sharpness, etc., -- you are the judge of what appeals to you and what is important to you in an image and the subject category.

Votes will be weighted to give greater weight to First Place votes than to Second and greater weight to Second than to Third place votes. When you place a vote for First Place, that entry will receive four (4) points; when you place a vote for Second, that entry will receive two (2) points, and a vote for Third Place will receive one (1) point.

1. Entry X (their name) - First Place
2. Entry A (their name) - Second Place
3. Entry C (their name) - Third Place

The winner will be notified and will choose a subject for May.

1. Mister8
2.bd-in-pdx
3.mucker

I spent forever trying to limit it to 5 choices and then when I got to the voting thread found that I only got 3 choices. ARggggghh. Loved all 3 of these. Could stare at number 1 for hours. Wonder if mucker used blur or if that focus was in camera, nice shot.

1. bd-in-pdx - love the over all moody feeling
2. mucker - wonderful color
3. mister8 - very interesting twisted branches and I like the interesting clouds. I don't like the dark edge though.

Too bad I could only vote for 3, everyone did a great job.

Here are my votes for April "Trees".

1. Frank Lopes. absolutely nailed this one. I love the lighting. Only gripe is the rods & the 2x4 at the bottom. Very well done.

2. bd-in-pdx.

3. Mucker

The atmosphere created by bd-in-pdx did it for me. The tonal range and composition worked well to give a great result.
I love IR photography as it is quite unpredictable, it was a tough choice
between the two entries but fotoflo just did it on the surreal feel.
CathyH's entry reminds me of standing under, looking up and
being in awe at the size and beauty of trees.
It has been a great effort with so many different techniques, very hard
to judge!

WOW, we are really attracting some great photos (and by default the photographers :) ). I had a difficult time limiting my choices to three.

1. Bd-in-pdx beat out the number two choice only because of the compelling story of film capture on this shot. GREAT shot of Yosemite.

2. Jforkner came in such a close second. Beautiful work!!!

3. Mucker. Now THIS shot of leaves is my kind of shot. Beautiful work.

And not to leave anyone else out. I love the variety and the work. The snow shots are great. In my experience, shooting snow is dicey no matter the skill. Blowout on the highlights, over exposure, under-exposure, etc. The bonsai trees, both large and small are beautiful. Sweetlight, I liked the picture better in color that you posted in the art forum. What a find. Some of the pictures made me think of home. IR is the perfect place for trees. It lends a lot of creativity.

In other words, there are no winners and no losers. Thanks for participating.

Janet
