Entries are now being accepted for this month's competition -- make a post in this thread and attach your entry.

The theme for this month's competition has been chosen by the
1st Place WINNER of our April 2008 competition -- bd-in-pdx (otherwise known as Brett!! )

While waiting for "the Brinks truck to pull up with his oversized check", ;)
Brett has chosen the theme "Eyes"

Hmm, lots of people and animals (and potatoes) have eyes, and lots of other things can look like eyes... Could be very interesting....

Each member may submit only one entry for this competition. You may change your entry (or submit another entry in its place) up until the deadline.

Deadline for submitting your image: Thursday May 29th, 2008 at 2 am EDT.

The goal of these friendly competitions is to inspire members to grab our camera and actually use it. New photos are our goal, but we also accept recently photographed/recently processed images that fit the topic also. Honor system applies.

We'd love to hear any shooting info you have (shutter speed, ISO, f-stop) as well as any regular photographic post-processing -- cropping, levels, saturation, dodge/burn, etc.
Note: This is NOT the forum for photo art filters or art programs - let's keep the photos looking like photos. ;)

Entries may be deleted if they do not meet criteria, but we do not encourage arguing about entries -- the voters will decide which images they prefer.

What does the winner get? The winner gets to choose the next assignment PLUS gets all the nice accolades that come from being chosen "Winner". (No, a Brinks truck does not arrive with a large check...)

Post your photo submissions in this thread, and we'll have a separate thread for discussion of this assignment and your comments regarding any of the entries that strike your fancy.

All RetouchPro members may take part in the competition and all members may vote, whether they have submitted an entry or not.

My cat does not like her picture taken so it took lots of tires to get her, and I'm not sure this is the best I can do but I wanted to post it now and I may change it later.

I know, not the place for discussion; but will do it anyway. Cathy, you stole my idea. Too funny!!! Great minds think alike. :) :)

Hi, this is my entry.
This is an eye, the 'London Eye'. You get in a pod and rotate around an axis to about 500 ft, it's like a giant bicycle wheel - great views of London and great fun as well!

'Yeah, yeah, I know I need a haircut. Eyes? I know they are in here somewhere."

Janet

I actually have two other great pictures of some alpacas I watched being sheared the other day. But this one was just too much, especially for the theme. Evil snicker here.:lmao::devious::nod:

Hi everyone,
Heres my entry. This is a Colorado squirell. He hangs out on the main street in Manitou Springs and ocasonally he gets fed for entertaining the tourists. He was nice enough to pose for me for this shot.

1/30 sec
f 2.4
iso 320

should have been 1/250 but it was nightfall and with my Sony it's bad enough to be at iso 320.
In photoshop I croped to 3rds and gave it a vignette. I also painted in some sharpening and luminence blur to compensate for the pixelation.
