May 08 – Contest
The publishing company is looking for a cover design for their upcoming fantasy series The Chosen. Download the provided image, and transform it into a the cover appropriate for this fantasy novel.
The Chosen
An orphan, Sarah knew little of her background. Walking home one day, she saw a beautiful white horse. She had never seen him before, but he seemed tame enough and she wondered where the rider was. As she reached out to touch the horse, she was surrounded by bright swirling lights and suddenly transported to an enchanted forest.
Everything she knew had changed. Everything she knew was gone. She was now in a strange but wonderful magical place. The inhabitants of this world peered out from their hiding places to see Sarah. They knew their salvation rested in her. Sarah was about to find out that she was the Chosen and it was her destiny to battle the Evil that had taken over this world.

Prize: Photomatix Pro 3 donated by HDRsoft (http://www.hdrsoft.com/)
Prize Description: If you have ever photographed a high contrast scene, you know that even the best exposure will typically have blown out highlights and flat shadows. Photomatix offers two ways to solve this problem:
Exposure Blending: Merge differently exposed photographs into one image with increased dynamic range.
Tone Mapping: Reveal highlight and shadow details in an HDR image created from multiple exposures. The tone mapped image is ready for printing while showing the complete dynamic range captured.
THE RULES:
1. Contest will run from 5 May to 24 May 08. Deadline for entries is 5pm EDT.
2. I will not answer questions concerning the rules. Interpretation of the rules is as important as execution.
3. Tasks:
*Turn the image into a cover appropriate for this fantasy story.
*Do not add text
*Final image must be exactly 600 pixels wide and 800 pixels high.
*Any item added to the photo must be copyright free.
4. When you submit your entry put your username in the filename (ie: tpaul.jpg). This is so users can save the images to a local directory and remember who did what--important when it comes time to vote.
5. Post your entries to this thread. Links will not be accepted. Please restrict your comments, questions or discussion to the May 08 Contest Discussion thread. Inappropriately placed posts will be deleted.
6. Only one entry per person. You can change your entry up to the deadline.
7. Voting will run from 25 May to 31 May. Only those with entries may vote.
8. Voting:
* Submit the 5 best entries (by artist name) in order, starting with your favorite.
* You cannot vote for your own image.
* Once you have voted, you cannot change your votes.
Finally, please remember that this is a friendly contest and suppose to be a learning experience. Tips and suggestions to help others are highly encouraged. Also please don’t limit your comments to just the top 5 when you vote. Most members are eager for feedback about their images, so remember to help each other out.
