View Full Version : Animated Avatars Vikki 05-14-2002, 06:32 PM You guys are so clever!
Blinking eyes......hmmmm what else can we do?
Perhaps it's time for me to change my photo.
Now if I could only find one I didn't hate. OhThatGirl2001 05-14-2002, 06:54 PM I love the blinking eyes - how did you do that! I want to make one eye wink!
Lisa Jakaleena 05-14-2002, 06:58 PM Well, if everyone's gonna start winking at me, then I want to know how to make my lips pucker up and blow kisses back....
(Man, we are such a bunch of big kids!) OhThatGirl2001 05-14-2002, 07:00 PM Half the fun is knowing that we can do it!
Na nah na na nah!
Lisa rondon 05-14-2002, 07:24 PM Ah! yes... the blinking icons... thought I would make my second million with that.. (gave up on the 1st) on AOL's aim.. never seen any but mine.. but anyhow... attached is one easier to see... ..many people want their babies and grandbabies on theirs..
I have been promising myself to learn to animate with image ready... but haven't... but if you have animation shop it's pretty easy...
first edit the pic in Photoshop... crop a closeup of face.... ... then make one or 2 copies (blink and wink ) ... and clone or paint eye(s) closed...
next save all in a file...
open animation shop... make an animation ... then change the frame properties.. I use 10/100 sec. for blink ..15/100 for wink.. and from 300/100 to 400/100 for the eyes open pic...
2 things to use on AIM... it has to be the non member version... of Aim (best I think) and under 7kb... real close crop and you can see ok...
also... make sure the final frame in the animation is with eyes open.... I learned the hard way :( when the animation stops (it will on AIM) the kid looks pretty grotesque..
... Hope that helps...
attached is a cute one.. well I think CJ Swartz 05-14-2002, 07:40 PM Awwwww, cutie patootie!
I've been meaning to learn animation on ImageReady also -- maybe tonight... I found some animated gifs for download as avatars, and will see if looking at them in ImageReady will help me. rondon 05-14-2002, 07:43 PM yes see you did.... is that ewe jumping around ?
RonDon Jakaleena 05-14-2002, 07:48 PM Hey CJ - you get a perm? You look a little "woolier" somehow....
(Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!) rondon 05-14-2002, 07:51 PM I like that one vikki.... maybe a little spruce up with color...
this is a page with some more animated icons... only allowed 3 pix to a page... so give the center one time to load... contains several ... that do different things
http://www.angelfire.com/fl5/photosalvage/icons.html
RonDon rondon 05-14-2002, 08:40 PM Where are my manners ?.... ok here is one for lisa.... and I will do others for anyone else that wants one...well unless I open my mail and find sacks full.... just send me a clear closeup of the face... .
this should fit here... "aim" if you have it can be larger as long as it under 7kb.... in a few minutes I'll post that icon here..
RonDon rondon 05-14-2002, 08:44 PM forgot to mention that I used Naffins's submission for the face as I felt the eyes would show well.... all of them look good...
RonDon rondon 05-14-2002, 08:52 PM here's the larger one...
RonDon G. Couch 05-14-2002, 09:06 PM those are cool! ...everyone is going to be winking at each other before long :D
If I have trouble sleeping tonight I will count how many times CJ's icon jumps into the air...;) Jakaleena 05-14-2002, 09:23 PM everyone is going to be winking at each other before long
People will just think we've developed a collective TWITCH from staring at the monitor... jeaniesa 05-14-2002, 09:28 PM These animated GIFs are really cool! Ron, I love what you did with Lisa's photo! :D
Jeanie OhThatGirl2001 05-14-2002, 10:57 PM That is sooooo cool! Thank you. I can't wait to try one myself. I'm still waiting for Jak to pucker up and blow us a kiss!
Thanks Ron.
Lisa:tongue: CJ Swartz 05-15-2002, 02:58 AM RonDon -- great job with Lisa's animated photo! :) Looks very natural.
RonDon - thank ewe for noticing! :wavey:
Jak -- my "wooliness" protects me from the chilly temps at nite -- it's down to 81
Greg -- it's 2am MST -- hope you're asleep after counting sheep :tired: jerry 05-15-2002, 03:25 PM Rondon
That is really interesting. When I worked on that portrait, she didn't wink at me at all.
Thanks
Jerry :D DJ Dubovsky 05-15-2002, 03:57 PM Cool Ron. :) Looks like we are moving into the animated avitars nowdays.
DJ rondon 05-15-2002, 04:11 PM Yes maybe so DJ ... you know I've had some fun with animations... think there would be enough interest to start a new thread ?
attached is one I made after placing this gentlemans new.. .but distant baby grandaughter in his lap for him...
the name says it all..:)
RonDon rondon 05-15-2002, 04:33 PM Least you feel left out.... jerry 05-15-2002, 05:04 PM Ron
I think a thread to show animation techiques would go over big on this site.. I for one would definately tune in..
Jerry
:D Jakaleena 05-15-2002, 05:07 PM think there would be enough interest to start a new thread ?
I'd be interested. I know NOTHING about Image Ready or animation... But I'd love to learn! rondon 05-15-2002, 05:37 PM carefull what you wish for Jakaleena...;) Jakaleena 05-15-2002, 05:42 PM Originally posted by rondon

DJ Jakaleena 05-15-2002, 05:56 PM Whoooooooooo! DJ! Major 60's flashback! LMAO! :lmao:
Wayyyyyy cool..... DJ Dubovsky 05-15-2002, 06:00 PM Who knows maybe I'll add the rest of the spectral colors to it and it will really be a 60s flashback.
DJ Jakaleena 05-15-2002, 06:04 PM Hey! That last post graduated me to SENIOR MEMBER!
(Jak plays Pomp & Circumstance in the background)
The day I've been waiting for - I am so proud... LOL:D rondon 05-15-2002, 06:11 PM ah ... I was wondering if 100 was the magic bullet... well one more out of the way
RonDon:bigthmb: CJ Swartz 05-15-2002, 06:21 PM RonDon -- another coup with Jak's pucker!! Good job! DJ's chameleon-like avatar is great also. I'm definitely going to learn ImageReady (last night I got as far as looking at the Help index :depressed) -- there is a learning curve, but it'll be fun once I get started up "the hill".
I'd also be interested in a thread on animation. rondon 05-15-2002, 06:30 PM Ok... think I'll give it a try... Problem is I still haven't learnt image ready... started with animation shop long ago.. thought I could just use the adobe programs now that ps7 has a much used browser ... guess that will be my project too... image ready.
RonDon Sharon Brunson 05-15-2002, 07:34 PM RonDon,
I love what you did to Jak's avatar...incredible.
What fun.
Sharon Extremely cool stuff! :D Go for it.
Ed rondon 05-15-2002, 08:41 PM well gave image ready a try... different... but will be nice to flip easily back and forth to Photoshop... nothings sacred..
warning this avitar is grapic...
RonDon CJ Swartz 05-15-2002, 08:57 PM RonDon!!!! I DON'T think you're allowed to do THAT to Doug!! :aghast:  LOL!! DJ Dubovsky 05-15-2002, 09:14 PM Oh that is sooooo funny. What's that little peice popping up at the end? His head? :D
DJ That made it worth staying up past my bed time.
Ed ghoffman 05-15-2002, 10:11 PM Excellent!
Gene Doug Nelson 05-15-2002, 10:25 PM What am I doing? I can't quite make it out :) rondon 05-15-2002, 10:49 PM well... the desk caved in doug... and took you with it.. well quite a stretch huh ?...
here's one for sharon.. tried to make the background move.. like she's on a boat... Sharon Brunson 05-16-2002, 08:05 AM You are so talented...my favorite is still Jak's...love that kiss. Sharon 05-16-2002, 05:33 PM Your animations are really good. I would like to know how to do that. Does anyone know of any good tutorial for PS7?
Thanks.
Sharon:) rondon 05-16-2002, 06:13 PM Hi Sharon
as you may have read I know little about using ps7 (image ready) to animate with.... I'm used to animation shop... hope someone can point us at a good tutorial....
That said... I gave it a try last night....
If you don't know an animation is really just a slide show...
I haven't discovered how to put one together slide by slide within image ready yet ....
but there is another way that works......
first work on the individual shots in ps7...
one way is to bring up the pic you want to animate.... use "save as" to save it as the 1st frame in a new folder you create... an empty one...
I like to use letters.... a b c and so on..... numbers can make it more difficult past 9 ...
then ...modify the frame.... some....
then save thats as B
more modifying... then save as C..... and so on...
put nothing else in the file .... but the frames
2 or 3 frames is good to start
close all photos..
then go to image ready ( shift ctrl M ) or... file/jump to/image ready..
once there ...
file / import / folder as frames .... and locate the file with your work..
toward the bottom of the left tool bar there is a "preview document" icon .. (next to the e of explorer).... click that to view the animation... click it again to stop it.you have to stop it to edit the animation..
well ... hope that gets your foot in the door...
to save it ... use ... file / save optimized as for now... not in the same file though ... if you are going to make more alterations...
you'll see...
let me know if you get hung up...
have fun
RonDon Sharon 05-16-2002, 06:16 PM Thanks RonDon. I'll give it a try.
Sharon:) Thanks RonDon. I printed it out, and I'll probably give it a try tomorrow. Looks like fun.
Ed rondon 05-16-2002, 06:29 PM Hi Ed... well I like it... often if you are doing a restoration or something and keep saving the progress as different letters it nice to set back on your break and animate the steps taken...
too big a file to post anywhere.. but nice.
RonDon CJ Swartz 05-16-2002, 07:40 PM A tutorial for ImageReady to make animations (http://www.adobe.com/web/tips/imgranimate/main.html)
Sharon, I just downloaded this tutorial and am starting to look it over -- not sure how different ImageReady is in the different PShop versions, but am hoping that this tutorial will get me started in the right direction. CJ Swartz 05-16-2002, 08:07 PM The tutorial is good -- don't judge it by my first attempt -- my eye looks more like it's twitching than winking ;) I'll just have to practice with my new toy! rondon 05-16-2002, 08:13 PM looks good to me CJ..... and thanks for posting the tutorial.. I went and copied it... looks good..
RonDon Sharon 05-16-2002, 09:21 PM CJ, thanks for the link. This look like fun.
Sharon:) Thanks CJ. I've downloaded it, hopefully to use tomorrow.
Ed rondon 05-16-2002, 10:20 PM sorry DJ didn't see your question about doug's .... thats supposed to be the monitor popping back up.... think I didn't get the timing right with it...
i've adjusted it some here..
RonDon DJ Dubovsky 05-16-2002, 10:40 PM Either way Ron, it makes me laugh just seeing it. Love your wild sense of humor. :D
DJ rondon 05-17-2002, 08:42 PM well .. had fun making it Dj.. but really like the one doug has now..
I had second thoughts about starting a thread on animations.. thats not really what this site is about.. and not what most of us here chosen for a specialty.
I'm not sure how we ended up with this thread.. (did they bounce us outta .. "whats in a name" ?
but this is nice.. and the world already has lots of animators..
maybe we can use this thread to just have a little fun.. and show a few of our modest projects...
here's an early one I made.. still one of my favorites...
like Bogie and Kate ?
RonDon
forgot to mention... the alternate couple is me and mine,, DJ Dubovsky 05-17-2002, 08:53 PM Ron
Sometimes when we go off topic and, if it's worthy of it's own thread, Doug will try to seperate it. Your animated avatars were a good topic that deserved it's own title and thread as an interesting topic for other members curious about avatars.
As for not being what we are about here, that is why it's in the salon. The salon forum is where we can let our hair down and talk about anything we want totally unrelated to the topic of this site. It's our playground so to speak. So don't feel like you have to restrict yourself here.
Loved that Boggie and Kate. That's cute. :)
DJ Hey RonDon,
That's cool! :D I have a question for you. I made an animation, but if I send it in an e-mail, it won't open in the browser. But if I double click on it in Windows Explorer, the browser opens to display the file. Any words of wisdom?
Ed I forgot to mention that's what the Salon area is for -- to have relax and have fun! Heard any good jokes lately? :)
Ed rondon 05-17-2002, 09:17 PM well... no good jokes since "the three legged pig"..
but glad you folks pointed out that this is the lounge...
right you are..
as for the e mailed animation...
not really well versed in it...
but it all comes down to file associations I guess... depends on what people have chosen to open "gif" files..
i just sent the african queen to myself.. and worked within the letter on outlook express..
I usually use them in aol's instant messenger... or on a web page... so really don't know... maybe somebody will shed some light on it..
RonDon OK RonDon. Thanks. By the way, the three legged pig is a definite classic! :D
Ed jeaniesa 05-18-2002, 12:39 PM RonDon,
The "new" thread is because I asked Doug to separate it out. It's a fun topic and I think deserves it's own thread - esp. for when newcomers join us later. With animation as it's own thread, it will be much easier to find than hidden underneath a couple of pages of "what's in a name?" :)
And, even though I haven't participated in any posts, doesn't mean I'm not enjoying the thread and reading every post! I've just gotten caught in a busy spell. (No, I should be honest - I was actually playing with "paintings" rather than animation. ;) ) BUT - I do hope to animate my avatar someday soon - so watch for it! :D (I've played a bit with ImageReady and find it pretty straightforward, so I'll try that.)
Jeanie rondon 05-19-2002, 08:21 AM well jeaniesa i like it here thanks... and DJ made a new one for you to look at... transparent background ..
RonDon DJ Dubovsky 05-19-2002, 08:52 AM Oh Cool! Thanks Ron. I was going to work on adding the extra colors but didn't have the time to get to it. I love it. :D
DJ rondon 05-19-2002, 10:40 AM you're welcome DJ .. now that it's installed I like it too
RonDon rondon 05-21-2002, 07:23 PM not much to add here..... seems like our new home has fizzled... but I did change vikki's icon a little.... no animation .. but a transparent background and a little color... if she wants it...
RonDon Vikki 05-21-2002, 09:13 PM RonDon - Pretty close!
I've posted a color avatar, so you can see how close you got it, although it's still not animated (just can't get around to it yet).
I can't find a "smile" photos either, so I'll have to work on that too.
I'm actually a very happy person, even though I look miserable in these photos! rondon 05-22-2002, 05:46 AM Naw you don't look miserable.... just serious... and the color looks good... Just noticed the niagara falls n.y. on there... Jr's truckstop still there ? I've ate lots of buffalo wings there after crossing back into the u.s.
RonDon
here's one for Ed L rondon 05-22-2002, 06:05 AM which reminds me... after absolutly no demand... here's the 3 legged pig joke d_kendal 05-22-2002, 10:16 AM :D thanks for posting that one rondon, its great!
- David G. Couch 05-22-2002, 10:33 AM That Ed animation is great! Is that Ed's response to his wife saying "Will you hand me the shovel?"? :D Vikki 05-22-2002, 10:41 AM Junior's Truck Stop!!
It's just a few miles down the road from me. I'm guessing if I say it's still there, as I haven't looked lately (don't go to the Falls too much), but I imagine if Junior's closed it would make the news here.
This city loves pizza & wings!! Hey RonDon. Very cool avatar! I was online this morning, but I didn't see the post. Now how do I use it as my avatar? Do I use "save as" to my hard drive , then upload it, or what? Yeah, I know -- I'm supposed to be the one answering those kind of questions. :D Thanks for taking the time to make it, even if it was a ball. :)
Regarding the three legged pig joke - it's amazing how a joke can get changed from one person to another. The story is a little different from the one I heard a few years ago (that one was about a news reporter looking for a story), but the punch line is pretty much the same.
Ed DJ Dubovsky 05-22-2002, 02:01 PM Ed,
How I saved mine was right click on the link to the attachment and click on Save target as. Then just saved it to my files and uploaded it in CP users options. Go to change avatar and click on the browse button to find it in your files. Hope that helps.
DJ rondon 05-22-2002, 04:32 PM well David glad you liked the joke... as Ed L says... changes each time you hear it.. thats my version.
might be ed's response to his wife... "G" did I see "greg" somewhere ?
DJ's info is right on installing the avitar...Ed...
I had to ask when I changed mine... I was in the 800x600 screen mode and unable to see the "user cp"... as it turns out now I only need to use IE's full screen option and it shows at the bottom of the menu.
also right clicking on the open attachment works ... same as DJ's way...
now as to Juniors Truck Stop ..Vikki.... it seems it was always the dead of winter when I'd haul the produce to toronto and elsewhere.
cold and tired after many runs .... Juniors was always my oasis...
once thru the doors.... a warm lounge... a couple of brandies... and those giant buffalo wings...
You may not know.... but most parts of the country have no idea what true buffalo wings are...
many people call wings that ... or "hot wings" but they aren't..
I understand there are many versions of how they got their start... I subscribe to the one that involves the blizzard and all the stranded motorists ... and as they ran out of food all the cook could find was some wings (which no one ever ate then ) some blue cheese .. celery ... (maybe some carrots but I like to think the health freaks came up with that later) lots of tobasco.. butter and worstershire sauce... and.. a legend was born..
so any how I like to make them... not really sure if I get them right.
would make an interesting recipe for the "cookbook" part of the lounge..
for all the rest who read this... lets just say that without the blue cheese and celery to follow a true "buffalo wing" with... well ..."EL SCORCHO"
but worth the pain:devil: G. Couch 05-22-2002, 05:14 PM Originally posted by rondon

yup...i'm Greg. I must have been drinking my third glass of wine  when I typed my user name...It should have been Greg C. ...I wonder if I can change that?
I'm all for your wings recipe! Bring on the heat..i can take it! rondon 05-22-2002, 05:24 PM yup... greg you'll love the wings if you ever get any... as for changing you screen name.... yes I think so... all starts with the bottom of the menu on left...
User cp..
if you don't see it play around a bit with it.... full screen ie etc. G. Couch 05-22-2002, 05:34 PM I checked and I think Doug is the only one who can change a user name...and it's probably not worth the trouble.
By the way, I have really been getting a kick out of all your animations...one of my favorite threads to check out! G. Couch 05-22-2002, 05:35 PM 1 more post Ron, your at 99!!! come on 1 more..... :D rondon 05-22-2002, 05:40 PM well on the animated.. avitars ... the pic you have now doesn't look to easy to work with... but send me a close facial shot... glad to make you one.. color is better in my mind ..
so then this is 100 ?... love it ... thanx G. Couch 05-22-2002, 06:02 PM Originally posted by rondon

I'll try to be a good senior member rondon 05-22-2002, 06:58 PM hey david... here's one for you ... well if you like it Thanks for the answers on how to use the avatar. That's on my to-do list.
Ed rondon 05-22-2002, 07:29 PM vikki... .. so one more thing.... got the recipe for "franks hot sauce" ? I may be wrong... but think it's an area sauce..
ok anyway... sounds like you have moved beyond their simple pleasures...
ok if i post my version ? rondon 05-22-2002, 07:41 PM sure greg send it... this pc has given road kill life DJ Dubovsky 05-22-2002, 07:57 PM Hey Ron, you're just having a blast with these animations aren't you? :D You only have about 490 members to go. :)
DJ The "Big Man" would like to have us stick to one topic per thread, which it is very easy to veer from. I'm going to move Vikki's recipe to the cookbook thread. Please post any others there. Thanks for understanding.
Ed rondon 05-22-2002, 08:03 PM yeah Dj I like doing them... a bit tough with the tiny avitars.. but have to say like seeing them show up...
And to anyone else that wants one.... let me know... and maybe send a good facial pic.
ok on the recipe ed... altho I was going there... it's not complete as is...
really can be a treat.... old news in niagara tho.. DJ Dubovsky 05-22-2002, 08:25 PM Ron,
Is it my imagination or did Ed's head get bigger? :D Did that piglet become a porker? :D
DJ I love it! I think Ron should go into the custom avatar business. Think about it -- no competition! :D
Ed rondon 05-22-2002, 08:31 PM nope... think ed's was 50 pixel by 50 .. gosh ! one more regular that i can watch as my own... doesn't get any better rondon 05-22-2002, 08:34 PM well I tried ed... on line at least... started out as animated icons for "AIM" ... turns out only those of us with the unsubscribed aim can use them... oh well still fun... d_kendal 05-23-2002, 01:26 AM hey david... here's one for you
Hi ron,
:D thanks for the animated avatar! sorry I took so long to get back, I've been really busy working a lot lately so I don't have as much time to go through the forums anymore :(
-David BigAl 05-27-2002, 03:52 AM Did y'all see CJ's new Pop-eye avatar  CJ Swartz 05-27-2002, 06:43 AM Did y'all see CJ's new Pop-eye avatar
I don't think I'm going to stay with this "look" for long -- I'm more the "sleepy - eyed" type, but painting my eyes shut doesn't create much animation...zzzz DJ Dubovsky 05-27-2002, 07:51 AM CJ,
Now you know what you would look like in a cartoon.
Of course you realize you're stuck with it now or nobody will understand these posts in the future. :D Just kidding
DJ rondon 05-31-2002, 06:02 AM well... with morning coffee... I picked on another pretty lady..
here's one for lorraine rondon 05-31-2002, 06:56 AM hey CJ I think your new avatar was big enough to work with.... see if you like this... CJ Swartz 05-31-2002, 08:16 AM RonDon, thanks for creating a new avatar for me - I like it! rondon 05-31-2002, 09:02 AM you are welcome CJ ... thinking now that maybe I should color the blouse... rondon 05-31-2002, 02:36 PM wow greg..... I think you really did short circuit my equipment... I was just trying to clean you up a bit and whamo !!! well might have been the lightning storm in the area...
anyhow got it a little cleaner once the smoke cleared Lorraine 06-04-2002, 02:54 PM Hi Ron--
Sorry to be so late joining this thread, but I'm back in classes, and they've been taking up my time. I'm now taking Photoshop Level 2 and HTML Level 2.
NOW, the big question is why would you want to animate me? My still photo is bad enough. If you animated me -- according to my husband -- all I would be saying is: This house needs painting!!! Why can't you close any closet doors? Do I have to get you another hamper in the laundry room? -- your dirty clothes are just thrown in there.
NAAAA!!! I don't think you want to animate me!!!
BIG LOL and thanks for trying. :D

DJ rondon 06-09-2002, 07:46 PM wow... awesome avatar yourself DJ... DJ Dubovsky 06-09-2002, 08:02 PM Not really Ron but thanks. I just took your animation and played around with it a bit. I'm really pretty new at this animation stuff. Wanted to make a rainbow color effect and then I decided to sneak in a little suprise. :D This way I can join the foto fun and still keep my original avitar.
DJ rondon 06-09-2002, 08:10 PM well be carefull.... can be habit forming DJ Dubovsky 06-09-2002, 08:14 PM Nooooo, I can't believe that.
DJ ravenmd 06-09-2002, 08:38 PM :D thanks Ron ravenmd 06-09-2002, 08:39 PM somehow, it gives the impression that time is whizzing by as I stare into my monitor..
..of course, this is true rondon 06-09-2002, 08:48 PM yup ... you look good in the clouds... .. i tried doing other things first but ended up cutting half the frames.... hence the faster background.... BigAl 06-10-2002, 12:22 AM Very clever avatar DJ. Nice to see you too, even if it's only momentarily! ;) BigAl 06-10-2002, 12:32 AM Gee David, just picked up your new avatar on the s/w thread. Neat stuff. Bet GregC loves the theme:D d_kendal 06-10-2002, 12:44 AM thanks Al, I had a fun making it!
DJ - Great to see your face! I really like your new avatar!
- David :) DJ Dubovsky 06-10-2002, 06:13 AM Thanks David. I like yours too. You look like you're up in orbit on the space station. :D
I played around with Ron's animation really then just sneaked in a frame. No one was supposed to notice. :D Guess I should have lowered the sequence time on that one section to 0 seconds. I think I was going for a subliminal thing. :D
DJ G. Couch 06-10-2002, 09:41 AM David - Love the avatar! Who says you need to pay the Russians tons of money to go into space! ;) G. Couch 06-10-2002, 11:10 AM You inspired me to go with the astronomy theme! :D CJ Swartz 06-10-2002, 11:44 AM David & Greg -- we always knew you were both "out of this world", and you have now given us further evidence of that fact.
DJ -- don't change it! It's almost subliminal; I thought I saw someone out of the corner of my eye, but it took a few careful observations to catch a glimpse. I love the dancing colors, and it's fun to try to catch a quick peek of you. :D d_kendal 06-10-2002, 11:55 AM :D thanks Greg, your new avatar is great!

- David :) Blacknight 06-10-2002, 12:04 PM David - it looks like the last frame takes away some of your torso...is that intentional and supposed to be something that the small size and my need of new prescription precludes me from seeing or what?
:wavey: DJ Dubovsky 06-10-2002, 02:59 PM  Boy I can remeber back when the big question was "How do I get one of those cute little cartoon pictues under my name?" Now we're really getting fancy here.
Thanks CJ. I liked my original avatar but I thought it high time to step up to the photo plate and wave hi at you all. It is kind of sneaky but I am amazed at how many caught it.

:wavey:
nope, thats completely unintentional, and probably due to the amount of compression I had to use to get it to the 20K size limit. I noticed that problem in the last frame, but I haven't had a chance to fix it yet.
- David :) d_kendal 06-11-2002, 01:57 AM there, I worked on my avatar again, and now I'm not having any compression problems anymore. (I had them before because my avatar had too many frames)
- David :) rondon 06-11-2002, 06:29 AM wow!!!! real nice... getting to be the steven spielberg of the avatar world ! :oldman: fugitive 06-11-2002, 10:32 AM frames!, now there's a clue, I've been trying to figure out how they worked without reading about it.
So they have frames...like a funny paper strip? rondon 06-11-2002, 11:43 AM good news DJ ... found that missing finger rondon 06-11-2002, 11:50 AM fugitive ... it's not the correct way I guess... but it's an easy way... talking about a posting I wrote about making animations in this thread... on my machine it's page 2.. DJ Dubovsky 06-11-2002, 05:24 PM That's Cute Ron. I think I'll use that one instead. Thanks. Where did the extra finger come from or do I really want to know? :D
DJ rondon 06-11-2002, 05:29 PM it's yours.. actually the one that was in that position... just shortened it by cloning in more of the background DJ Dubovsky 06-11-2002, 05:31 PM You are such a manipulator Ron. :D You'd never know I had digital amputation in the first place
DJ rondon 06-12-2002, 08:56 AM I thought a little background color would be good for sandra's G. Couch 06-12-2002, 09:49 AM That makes me dizzy Ron! :dizzy: T Paul 06-12-2002, 10:34 AM Ron you are the animation man! Jak's is still my favorite though! Her blowing kisses is just too funny.
:) jeaniesa 06-12-2002, 11:17 AM Ron - I'm with Greg, Sanda's just makes me dizzy! ;) Can you make the water fall DOWN as opposed to moving sideways in a panorama? Jeanie rondon 06-12-2002, 01:21 PM water coming down the falls... sounds good... when I get a chance will try it... Sanda 06-12-2002, 03:09 PM Thanks Ron, it's great :) rondon 06-12-2002, 07:55 PM yup ... that is a bit fast... well ... don't dwell on it... ! at least till I change it

you've got all the steps right, so I'm not sure why it's not working. one possibility is it could be a problem with your browser. using Opera I've had problems a couple times uploading things. which browser are you using?
- David :) Bob Walden 06-13-2002, 08:57 PM I'm using netscape. Ver 4 I think. rondon 06-13-2002, 09:07 PM well if you are still here.. i used yours and it's showing... so it's a posting problem... good luck Bob Walden 06-13-2002, 09:09 PM Kool, it just showed up!!!!!! Thanks for all your help.
And rondon thanks for starting all this. I am now interested in Image Ready.
Bob Bob Walden 06-13-2002, 09:11 PM Opps so excited I didn't see my name change. Just dont tell my mother. She named me. Bob Walden 06-13-2002, 09:19 PM Alright!!!! Ran it through aol and it works fine. Have had some problems with netscape. Time for a change. Happy to know it wasn't my lack of following instructions. Thanks again all.
Bob rondon 06-13-2002, 09:21 PM ok ... your secret's safe.... now to figure out where I parked my old avatar.. rondon 06-13-2002, 09:26 PM bit of a wimpy wave tho.. :( Bob Walden 06-13-2002, 09:53 PM Well, would a manly rabit wear a vest like that? DJ Dubovsky 06-13-2002, 10:00 PM Bob,
I seem to recall that bunny theme with you in some other picture. I think it was around Easter. I'm beginning to think that's the real you. :D Looks good and I guess since I'm seeing it you got the problem solved.
DJ d_kendal 06-13-2002, 11:17 PM yeah I remember that too. the thread was here (http://retouchpro.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1979). Glad you got your problem fixed, Bob!
- David :) rondon 06-28-2002, 07:08 PM here's a slightly changed avatar... Ok, I've made up an animated avatar now. :) I ended up using Animation Shop 3 instead of Gif Animator, as the transitions looked better. rondon 06-29-2002, 10:52 AM real nice one... smooth transition..
I was used to animation shop 3 too... but am switching over to image ready so that it's all on one program now...
ps7 now has a browser, which is a big reason I hung onto paintshop...
ps7's browser still isn't as quick to use as paintshops though .. I don't think..
anyhow I like your's much better...

RonDon, I wonder if Adobe included the one from PhotoShop Elements? I did a reaview of that software last year for our CUG, and it's image browser was really slow. Since in my situation I can't afford to get PhotoShop 7, I plug along with the programs I have... :) I think I can do 90+% of what can be done with Photoshop. I do not need any of the pre-press features. Now on the other hand... if I hit the lottery...
There is a good, free image/thumbnail viewer called IrfanView that you can download here:
http://www.irfanview.com/english.htm rondon 06-30-2002, 07:16 AM I did a review of that software last year for our CUG, and it's image browser was really slow.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Yup might be the same one.... And the more photos in the file the more it bogs down. I've split several large files up.
once when I'd formatted my hard drive I didn't re-install Paint Shop Pro as I thought at the time that their little thumbnail files had a conflict.
But I have it again.. I started with psp7 and was just getting to play with the tools when my sister gave me photoshop...
so I switched to Photoshop..... my thinking being that ps seemed to be the tool of the pro's.. might as well get used to it instead.
same thing with animation shop3 , It's very good also
have your link up now for the viewer .. thanks going to look it over. Bob Walden 06-30-2002, 10:48 AM Hi all!
Just to let you know the July/August issue of Photoshop User mag has an article on Gif Animations. Might help people trying to make their avatars.
Bob OpalCat 07-03-2002, 01:08 PM I've given in and put up an animated avatar. I'm such a follower. rondon 10-24-2002, 04:53 PM Ji Jak
thought you might want a little animation in your halloween avatar...
RonDon Jakaleena 10-24-2002, 05:19 PM That is very cool, RonDon. :) Thank you...
Now all I have to do is learn not to shoot Vikki in the face with those things.
Oh, wait... I just thought of a song....
La la la la....
Raven hair and ruby lips
sparks fly from her finger tips
Echoed voices in the night
she's a restless spirit on an endless flight
wooo hooo witchy woman, see how
high she flies ...... Doug Nelson 10-24-2002, 05:35 PM Much better than "Heyyyyyyy Jak-a-leena!" :) Jakaleena 10-24-2002, 05:42 PM LMFAO!!!!!!!
Oh, man... Don't do that when I'm just taking a drink... Now there's soda spewed all over my monitor and keyboard!!!! rondon 10-24-2002, 05:57 PM Hi again Jak
I had forgotten how to make the animations larger with 50 pixels until I saw how small your's was.... here's a larger one if you want it
RonDon Jakaleena 10-24-2002, 06:05 PM That one won't load - the message says it's too big. I had the same problem with the first one too, so I had to reduce it to get it to load...
Not sure what that's all about since it was 50 pixels...
I really love it though. I get into Halloween.... :vampire: rondon 10-24-2002, 06:13 PM yup.. your right... thought Ihad deleted the second right after posting as I noticed it looked no bigger... oh well glad you are into halloween..

Excellent, dude! rondon 02-12-2004, 04:02 PM I've been admiring your avatar and wanted to tweak it a little .. hope you don't mind I love it. Hope you don't mind me running with it. Can you tell me though, does it flush in the opposite direction when viewed in Australia?
Cheers
Duv rondon 02-12-2004, 07:16 PM Can you tell me though, does it flush in the opposite direction when viewed in Australia?
only when a typhoon passes to the north of it when the lids up !
BTW they say a gentleman puts the seat down... I say a real man never puts it up !!!! The problem is when the lid slams down. I hate it when that happens.
Cheers
Duv rondon 04-03-2005, 07:10 AM I felt like animating something the other day and thought your new avatar might be different. Hope you don't mind. Use it if you wish.
RonDon
After posting it looks like the frame jumps but it doesn't when saved or Used as an avatar.... Just a blink and a wink.
