DJ Dubovsky 01-02-2002, 11:24 AM I used to use ICQ but I don't any longer. I guess I found out I didn't have anything to say. :D Currently we don't have any messaging program up and running. DJ chris h 01-02-2002, 04:10 PM I have Instant Messenger but with my typing speed it's a very inefficient mode of communication compared to phone. Sanda 01-02-2002, 05:06 PM I have ICQ but rarely use it anymore, I just got so tired of all those unwelcome porno messages being sent to me. I use yahoo messenger mostly now, I find it works quite well for me. Jill 01-24-2002, 05:36 PM I use Msn, and use it everyday! I have two relatives in other states...one in Idaho and one in California that I chat with all the time...while they are at work! Mom, sis, gma, brother all hooked up too.... so when we can't reach each other by phone....good chance we can online :) I have gotten much faster at typing that is a big bonus....spelling has probably gone downhill but we understand each other! Doug Nelson 01-24-2002, 05:54 PM ive noticed splelling punctuation and capitalization all go seriously downhll in im due to the les formal atmosphere andthe eaes we have talking to casual acquantainses Jill 01-24-2002, 10:09 PM :lmao: I re-read my post and I have that problem! (poor spelling/punctuation) :) DJ Dubovsky 01-25-2002, 09:11 AM Jill I think Doug was refering to the chat programs not this type of forum. It's because it's so hard to chat when you have to type your conversation on the spot. They tend to abbreviate and eliminate all the unnecessary punctuations so they can converse faster. As for the typos and misspells, I think we all tend to do that. Sometimes I have to think of alternatives to what I'm trying to say because I can't spell it for the life of me. I even reread some of my posts and see all the mistakes and wonder how anyone knew what I was talking about. So, were artists here not road schollars. :D DJ mediaase 02-13-2002, 12:21 PM I use them all in a nice little program called Trillian  http://www.trillian.cc AIM, ICQ, MSN, Yahoo, and IRC all in one Ed_L 02-13-2002, 08:39 PM I use instant messenger when I have my son in law work on my computer remotely. Other than that, I'm kind of bashful as you probably know. :D Ed BigAl 02-14-2002, 10:05 AM I'm a bit paranoid about these type of communication methods, so I avoid them as far as possible. d_kendal 02-19-2002, 09:02 PM I use trillian also. it's nice to be able to sign into all the services at once (msn, yahoo, AIM etc.) - David Frank Lopes 02-23-2006, 01:46 PM I use Trillian from www.ceruleanstudios.com. It handles all of them: yahoo, AIM, MSN, IRC and ICQ and.... ................drum roll............... it is free! They also have a pro version that cost around US$20 Do you use some form of instant messaging or live chat program? Vote for the one you actually use now. smiley guy 02-23-2006, 02:27 PM I'm on a mac and I use iChat all the time as most of my friends are on AIM or on a mac. For those that aren't I use Adium and an msn account. Good clean fun! twinkissed 02-23-2006, 03:45 PM I use AIM but I also use Yahoo Messenger and have used MSN as well. Never for business purposes or anything. chrishoggy 02-23-2006, 04:18 PM Windows Live Messenger for me :D NancyJ 02-24-2006, 01:33 AM I used to use trillian but at uni the only thing we could http tunnel through the blocks was MSN so we all migrated to that - been using it ever since, I dont even remember my ICQ number any more. chrishoggy 02-24-2006, 06:34 AM Anybody want an invite for Windows Live Messenger (AKA MSN 8 beta)? Think I've got 4 up for grabs :bigthmb: first 4 asking after this post will get one :bigthmb: Swampy 02-24-2006, 08:14 AM iChat on a Mac. Typing not required for most of my friends since we video chat (using iSight) about 90% of the time. Kraellin 02-24-2006, 02:34 PM i have and still use icq. i also have, but rarely use msn. and absolutely refuse to use aim. i've used mirc, irc and before that, various telnet clients. i've been on the net for a while :) and before the net it was Genie and Compuserve :) craig Skyarcher 02-24-2006, 06:06 PM I have ICQ, MSN and Yahoo, but really only use my Yahoo the last 2 years. I have family in Alaska, Tennessee, Texas, N.Carolina and Germany, so it is a great way to get together. I also have 3 colleagues that I talk with all the time, throwing ideas back and forth to each other, having them check my work, I check their's. It's wonderful to be able to have that 'network' since I work from home. Luckily, so do they, in New York, Ohio and Germany even! :) Swampy 02-25-2006, 07:55 AM Craig... I remember GEnie well. "Those were the good ole days"? I was the Sysop of the Mac Forum there for about three years and I met my Sig Other in the GEnie chat room. Yep.. Lots of good memories. Kraellin 02-25-2006, 11:33 AM dee dee, indeed, those were the good old days. i spent WAY too many hours (and money) on GEnie and Compuserve. 300 baud (mostly) and 1200 baud (once in a while for 'high speed' gaming), dial up modems. lol. i was mostly a gamer back then and 'Air Warrior' on GEnie was one of my passions. that was one amazing game for 1200 baud! and if you really want to date my online experience, there was a commodore 64 network around those times as well. i forget the name now, but it was a dedicated C-64 network. cutting edge :) and i could really get retro on you by talking about mainframe networking in the early 70's ;) craig shellby 02-26-2006, 07:11 AM Yahoo Messenger, Skype and MSN Messenger Marthig 02-26-2006, 09:21 AM Well I checked "other" cause I use MSN and sometimes Yahoo! IM :) Pocoroba 03-21-2006, 10:46 AM Wrote a program called iVisit. (ivisit.com) which has excellent video and audio quality. I use this primarily to an overseas recipient. I'll also use Yahoo Messenger for Mac. Darren Gibson 04-05-2006, 09:53 AM I use MSN personally and Lotus Notes' built in message client in the workplace Kraellin 04-05-2006, 12:23 PM here's one i got recently that you all might want to check out. it's called 'iVisit'. it will do instand messages, voice over ip, file sharing/exchange, chat room, and even video conferencing. google 'iVisit'. doesnt seem to have much traffic on it yet. and i've only used it once to check it out, but seems fairly beefy. and, there's a free version, which seems pretty full-featured. do be a little careful with it, however. it seems some folks are using it for nude web-camming ;) craig Pocoroba 04-05-2006, 12:26 PM Video drops after an hour on the free version and is reinstated after 30 minutes of quitting the program. Audio has no limitations. "Nude web-camming" happens in any widely-used video chat program on the planet. Cyber Cat 04-05-2006, 09:40 PM trillian (for me irreplacable) justone 04-11-2006, 10:33 AM I use Trillian from www.ceruleanstudios.com.
