Yesterday, I was bragging on another thread about my 5 year old grandson who made a video using my digital camera. He transfered the pictures through the tv to VHS tape, but I decided to make the images into a Flash movie.

If anyone's interested, here's the link to the flash version

Enjoy

I'd say that's pretty darn impressive for a 5 year old. Even the composition is pretty good on most shots!

Kids are smarter than you might think. My daughter-in-law was trying to start their riding mower, and couldn't get it started. Her 4 year old daughter told her she had to press this button before it would start. Guess what? Vrooom! :)

Aren't kids amazing!!

Were kids always this smart, or is there something new in the air??

I don't think kids are necessarily 'smarter' per se. I think there's been a shift in parenting (and grandparenting) techniques and thinking -- sort of a cultural shift.

There's a recognition by some that "little kids" can learn a LOT if given the the right tools (e.g., digital camera), opportunities and patient instruction, plus that all important feedback.

Kids don't seem to be afraid of technology the way we were. Maybe it's just that there's more technology available to them.

Mackenzie was about 3 when I got the digital camera and he's been using it ever since.

I was about 10 when we got electricy in our house and 12 before we got a telephone. For entertainment, we listened to the radio. Listening to shows like the Green Hornet and Our Miss Brooks got the imagination flowing. When the radio battery went dead (which happened often) we would read the encyclopedia.

My grandkids will be reminescing about these days and be saying things like "we only had a pentium computer until I was 4 and we didn't get a DVD player until I was 5....."

I hope it's a better world for them now.

I passed on your complements about the soccer video to Mackenzie and he was thrilled!

Take care, Margaret

For sure - and then there's Fibber Magee and Molly, I Was a Communist for the FBI, Superman, and we can't forget listening to Edgar Bergen the ventriloquest. The Lone Ranger, Roy Rogers, Hoppalong Cassidy etc.

Am I dating myself?
