View Full Version : Movie Quotes Write a movie quote, and then have others guess the movie it came from. If you guess correctly, then you have to leave a new quote.
OK Heres my first quote. It should be easy.
"She puts the lotion in the basket." I don't know the movie, but it sounds like possibly a Mike Hammer movie. Kinda like "She met me at the door with a pair of forty fives. She had guns too!".
Ed Nope. Nice try though. Here is another quote from the same movie.
"Sounds like a Buffalo Bill type situation." DJ Dubovsky 07-25-2002, 04:33 PM Silence of the Lambs of course. The line is actually "It puts the lotion in the basket" because the killer specifically avoided refering to his victims as anything but It. The scene is where the governers daughter is in the pit in the basement of the killers house and the killer lowers a basket of lotion down so she can soften her skin so that it is soft when he kills and skins her. Yeah I know, more than you needed to know. :D I loved that movie but after reading the book Hanibal I couldn't watch the sequal. It just grossed me out.
DJ
Here's the next quote from an all time favorite movie of mine.
"That's a nine on the ol tension scale there Rube" I have no idea what that quote is from. I am going to have to do some research on google. DJ Dubovsky 07-25-2002, 05:20 PM Shall I give you more quotes from the same movie as a hint?
DJ fugitive 07-25-2002, 05:26 PM Yes, by all means, do. I don['t think strick rules matter in a thing like this. DJ Dubovsky 07-25-2002, 05:42 PM Ok here goes.
1. HEY RUMSFIELD!!!
Or
2. Nobody knocks of an old man in my neighborhood and gets away with it.
DJ fugitive 07-25-2002, 05:53 PM The Burbs? If it is, I looked. Doesn't count.
Yours are hard, I like easy ones, like Make My Day Punk DJ Dubovsky 07-25-2002, 05:56 PM Yes, it's the Burbs. I didn't think it was hard because I've seen the movie so many times I could talk along with it I guess. My first one was "We're gonna need a bigger boat" But I knew that was too easy. Your turn. :D
DJ fugitive 07-25-2002, 05:59 PM We're on a mission from God I like the easy ones as well. The Blues Brothers.
Heres the next one.
"Those pants are skin tight. How do you get into those baby?"
"You can start by buying me a drink."
"I put the GRRRR in swinger baby! Ya!" fugitive 07-25-2002, 06:47 PM I know that, and I haven't even seen the film, Mike Myers in Austin Powers.
Ok, try this.
Edward: You see this young lady over here?
Manager: Yes.
Edward: Do you have anything in this shop as beautiful as she is? The only thing I can think of with Edward as a name is Edward Scissor Hands. But I don't think that is the answer.
I am going to have to think on this one.
Do you have another quote from the same movie? fugitive 07-25-2002, 06:59 PM Their slippery little devils huh? sohagler 07-25-2002, 07:27 PM Pretty Woman. And darn it, I knew the 'Burbs one without looking. I'm quite fond of that movie. It, along with Joe vs. the Volcano, makes up my favorite Tom Hanks before he became all serious-actor-guy movies.
"I want the people to know that they still have two out of three branches of the government working for them, and that ain't bad." fugitive 07-25-2002, 07:41 PM I liked Joe a lot. but mostly the costar.
Here's one off the top of my head.
of all the gin joints in the world, why'd she pick this one? DJ Dubovsky 07-25-2002, 07:46 PM Cassablanca and I've never even seen the movie. :D
DJ
Ok here's a real easy one.
I'll get you my pretty and you're little dog too! fugitive 07-25-2002, 07:50 PM Off to see the Wizard............................
Your gonna ignore this shark till he swims up and bites you on the ass. Sonya,
Something like "Invasion from Marz" wasn't it? Wtih Jack nicholson? DJ Dubovsky 07-25-2002, 08:05 PM Greg,
The character Matt Hooper (Richard Dryfus) in Jaws.
DJ
"I got to get me one of these!!" DJ Dubovsky 07-25-2002, 08:10 PM OOOH here's another good one.
"Yes, but when the Pirates of the Carribean breaks down, the pirates don't eat the people"

isn't it the guy in Men in Black when shown a special gun? Jakaleena 07-25-2002, 08:32 PM Ok, I'll jump into this one. How about:
"He's only mostly dead..." DJ Dubovsky 07-25-2002, 08:34 PM Greg,
Right guy, wrong movie. :D
And the first quote is a few years old and the first movie of a trilogy.

I give. DannyRaphael 07-25-2002, 08:46 PM Some of my all time fav's...
"Come on, punk. Make my day!"
"Finestkind!" (followed by a unique whistle)
"We gotta get a BIGGER boat."
"A man's got to know his limitations."
"Matthew, Mark, Luke and DUCK!" DJ Dubovsky 07-25-2002, 08:54 PM Greg,
The first one is from Jurassic Park Malcolm (the mathmatician talking to Hammond (the Owner) about his dinosaur amusement park. The second one is Will Smith in Independence Day when he first flys the alien spacecraft.
Danny,
I know Make my day was a Clint Eastwood but don't remember which movie exactly. Dirty Harry maybe?
Then the one about the bigger boat is Roy Schieder in Jaws just after seeing the shark for the first time.
The others are familiar but I'm lost on them.
DJ fugitive 07-25-2002, 09:05 PM Jaws, which is one of my all time favs, probably has more good one liner zingers than almost any film. sohagler 07-25-2002, 10:37 PM Did anyone ever get DJ's Will Smith quotation? That was Independence Day, as he and Jeff Goldblum are flying the alien fighter craft up to a mother ship. DannyRaphael 07-26-2002, 01:40 AM "Come on, punk. Make my day!" - Clint. Wasn't Dirty Harry, but maybe the 2nd one.
"Finestkind!" (followed by a unique whistle). Hawkeye Pierce played by Donald Sutherland in M*A*S*H (movie version).
"We gotta get a BIGGER boat." Correct. Roy in "Jaws."
"A man's got to know his limitations." - Clint again in the DH movie about the renegade motorcycle cops. #3 I believe.
"Matthew, Mark, Luke and DUCK!" - From "Blazing Saddles," the scene in the prarie church where just as the pastor starts praying, he's interrupted by someone tossing in multiple sticks of dynamite about to explode. Sanda 07-26-2002, 01:53 AM Here's an old one for you.
"Who are those guys?" fugitive 07-26-2002, 02:46 AM I don't know.
try this" why don't you take the sandwitch and hold it between your knees" DJ Dubovsky 07-26-2002, 09:19 PM Hmmmmm.......they're getting real tough now. :D No clue.

Awww, man! I've been trying to remember this one since yesterday. I can see the scene as clear as day. It's Jack Nicholson, but I can't remember the name of the darn movie...!!
Grrrr, I hate that! ravenmd 07-27-2002, 08:43 AM Originally posted by fugitive
" why don't you take the sandwitch and hold it between your knees"
Greg
only one I can think of is Five Easy Pieces and it's Jack Nicholson.. but if that's the one, I believe he said:
"I want you to hold the tomato, I want you to hold it between your knees."
This was because she said toast was not on the menu. So he ordered a toasted tomato sandwich... hold the tomato.
am I right? ravenmd 07-27-2002, 08:54 AM Since I "may have" answered one I guess I should offer something. How about this:
"Because Allah loves wonderous variety!" DJ Dubovsky 07-27-2002, 10:19 AM Is it from As Good As It Gets?
DJ fugitive 07-27-2002, 10:36 AM Five Easy Pieces is Correct. It is when jack started to become Jack, after Easy Ryder, and before Coocoos Nest. The boring movie is worth it just for this one jewel from Jack.
The Allah one, is it that comedy with robot? fugitive 07-27-2002, 10:54 AM Ok, I got a good one.
"wait til they get a load of me" DJ Dubovsky 07-27-2002, 02:45 PM I know that one. It's Jack Nicholson again in Batman playing the part of the Joker.
DJ
Here's one.
Hey Rhonda, what are they doing now?........Why do you keep asking me that? fugitive 07-27-2002, 03:18 PM I don't know that one, sounds like a man and woman spying on someone. Okay, I know I'm cheatin' cause I didn't get one. Actually, I've missed most of the posts. But how 'bout "I've always loved you".
Ed fugitive 07-27-2002, 03:31 PM Nope.
How bout this one
.I'll just sit here and be quiet, just in case they do suspect me. They're probably watching me. Well, let them. Let them see what kind of a person I am. I'm not even going to swat that fly. I hope they are watching. They'll see. They'll see and they'll know and they'll say, 'Why, she wouldn't even harm a fly.... DJ Dubovsky 07-27-2002, 03:33 PM Well, close Greg but actually one's on a water tower and the others on a roof watching subterrianian worm activities below. It's from the movie Tremors.
I actually thought that would be easy becasue I remember Tremors being mentioned as a favorite movie of several members in the movie forum.
DJ fugitive 07-27-2002, 03:40 PM Tremors was so stupid, it's almost a classic, yes I saw 2. fugitive 07-27-2002, 04:04 PM Here's another good one.
McCroskey: Looks like I picked the wrong week to stop sniffing glue! DJ Dubovsky 07-27-2002, 05:01 PM Isn't that Lloyd Bridges in Airplane or is it Airplane the sequal?
DJ sohagler 07-27-2002, 05:45 PM "Because Allah loves wonderous variety"

I don't THINK I saw anyone answer that one in this thread yet... ravenmd 07-27-2002, 08:51 PM Originally posted by sohagler

Oh very good sohagler!
It was Azziz the Muslim who followed him back to England and gave that answer when asked by a boy why he was all tatooed.
I think that was the only high point of that movie. My son and I are fond of using this line to explain some of the quirkier and weirder things in life. :D Of course one of Greg's is Psycho! :) Yea, I got one. :D
Ed fugitive 07-27-2002, 10:13 PM Ed's right of course, Wanna hear a little story about my 1st encounter with that film.
I was in HS, '60, we went in a friends car to the drive-in, but we didn't have any money so we parked on a road that went up hill beside the theater. We parked and sat there with all the windows open, and could hear the sound some from the hundred or so speakers down below. We were so taken with what we saw, that in the next few days, we came up with the bread and went for real. Those were the days. I remember those days. It was at a drive-in where I saw it too. And it wasn't even my turn to ride in the trunk! :D
Ed fugitive 07-28-2002, 09:10 AM You guys did that too? Thought we invented it.................. CJ Swartz 07-29-2002, 08:43 PM A dark pool opened at my feet. I dived in.
The original starred a former dancer... I'm guessing it wasn't Jimmy Cagney. What do I get for that? :D
Ed CJ Swartz 07-29-2002, 08:49 PM I'm guessing it wasn't Jimmy Cagney. What do I get for that? :D
You're CORRECT -- it WASN'T Jimmy Cagney. :) Ok Ok My turn.
