David Kendal,

I see your 16th birthday is tomorrow. I don't know if that's a big deal in Canada, but it is here so I wanted to send you my best wishes.

You are an impressive, intelligent and interesting young man and some day we'll all say we knew you when.

Hope you have a Happy Birthday tomorrow.

Sharon

Hey David! Earlier this evening I was thinking about your birthday too!

I hope it is a very special birthday because you are a very wonderful and special young man. Like Sharon, I have no idea if 16 is special in Canada, but here in the US it is a rite of passage. When you are 16 here, you are finally old enough to DRIVE! :)

I know from one of the challenges that you already do have a car though...

Here's hoping you get everything you wish for tomorrow.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DAVID!

thanks very much for all the birthday messages!! sorry i wasn't around here to reply to them on my actual birthday . I've been extremely busy lately (yes turning 16 is a big deal here too, im gonna go for my drivers test in a couple days) but i'll explain about that in another message (see the "where's Rondon" thread)

Certain parties thought you'd run off with a woman or vice versa !

Good luck on that driving test and don't let those testers intimidate you. :D

Can you be a bit more specific Greg !

DJ - thanks, I'm not too worried about the test, since I'm comfortable driving around in our city traffic by now, I'm just nervous about stalling the car since I'm doing my test on a standard that's not mine (its a rental car from the alberta motor association where i take my test) that i won't be used to.

Greg - yep, you can most likely think of me either cruising, working on/cleaning my car, or at my work if I'm away.

I assume your taking your test in an automatic D. Theres two seperate tests here, if you take the manual test you can drive both auto and manual but the automatic test confines you to automatic cars.

d_kendal

actually, when i said standard I meant I'm doing it on a manual. I'd do it on a auto since it's simpler so probably more easy to get through the test with, but I'm more comfortable driving in a manual since in all the cars but one I've driven in were manuals. i think the test used to be that way here too, but they've changed it so no matter what car you do your test in you can drive auto or manual.

D, You surprise me I thought manuals were a rarity in Canada and the US. I would think its 50% automatic over here but I've always drove manual I prefer them especially on icy roads.

yeah, I've been surprised to find that Manuals are making a comeback right now in canada (I'm not sure about the US) but its probably for partly the same reason as you, since the roads can get pretty bad in the winter here.

I read somewhere the other day that only 2% of the cars sold in the US now are manual. I prefer them also.
