Hmm.... I need a little help, see I've got this commission type thing... it's my first one and it's not a very serious thing but....
It's for this guy my father works for, he's in a nursing home and he had this picture of him and his wife in his back pocket for _years_ and I've touched it up for him...
You can check out the photo here
http://bewitching.keenspace.com/photo.html

I'm almost done I've got lot more done than that picture shows and I wanted some help with adding color.... The owner wanted a little more color in the pic, if you look closely she has a rose on her sweater that's red and is wearing a turquoise necklace but I don't know how to inhance the color realisticaly and I wanted a little help....

Hi Loren,

If you haven't seen the tutorial by Jak on colorization, check it out here (http://www.retouchpro.com/tutorials/coloring/index.html) . If you look to the left of this message, you should see a sliding menu. When you put your cursor over it, it will slide out, and give you access to other places on this site, including tutorials and tips. Welcome to the site. If you need any more help, just say so. There are a lot of talented people willing to lend a hand.

Loren:

Are you're thinking about adding just a little color to the rose and the necklace (only) and not to the entire image? If so I've got a suggestion. (In the interest of time, I'll wait for your reply before elaborating on it.)

If you're thinking about colorizing the entire image, the Jak's Tutorial is the way to go.

Loren,

If you don't get your answer on this thread, maybe you should start another one "Colorizing w/Paint Shop Pro". We have several Paint Shop Pro users on the site, and you have a good chance of getting some more appropriate information.

Yeah I guess actually _looking_ around before I whine for help would be a good idea ;)

Loren,

You can do all the stuff from Jak's tutorial in Paint Shop Pro... (I have Paint Shop Pro 7 but this has all been possible for the last several versions)

"Make sure it's in RGB color" - Colours -> Increase Colour Depth -> 16 Million Colours

"make a new layer and set it to color blending mode" - Layers -> New Raster Layer (Blend Mode: Colour) (you can change Blend Mode later via Layers -> Properties or the Layers Palette)

"Fill your selection" - you'll have to use the Flood Fill tool for this

"adjust the fill opacity to your liking" - change the opacity of the layer in the Layers palette

"save all of my selections in case I need them later" - Selections -> Save to Alpha Channel (or to Disk if you prefer)

"re-name your layers" - double-click on layer in Layers palette or choose Layers -> Properties

The rest should be fairly straightforward assuming you've been using Paint Shop Pro for a while, but ask if you've any specific questions.
