This site could be of interest if you are concerned that someone could have gotten your credit/debit card number. https://cardtest.cardcops.com

How do you verify if that site is legit? These days I suspect everything and everyone. :) I'm becoming cynical in my old age Ed but with the level of believable scams out there it's for good reason. I admit it does look interesting and it would be a good service for online buyers.

I too have become very paranoid of late - to the level I bought a shreader to mash up my reciepts or anything with my name and address on it.

Probably an interesting site - but do you have to enter your details into it. If so how do you know they are only going to use it to check that other companies have not got them?

I can understand the paranoia bit. I have a hard time trusting my own government, let alone an internet site. I found this site through the October issue of Smart Computing. If you happen to have it, it can be found on page 51. It says, in part, "CardCops reportedly uses 128 bit SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) encryption while your number is being transmitted for checking, and stolen numbers in the database are also encrypted (it stores only stolen numbers)".

It's always good to have an endorsement from a reliable source.
