the cookbook forum has been pretty dead lately, so I thought i'd try to get things going again with some christmas recipes. It's not even december yet, but as far as i'm concerned it's never too early to start baking and eating christmas goodies (especially the eating part!! :D)

Ginger bread cookies

mash together
1/4 cup butter
1/2 cup white or brown sugar (i find brown works best)

beat in
1/2 cup molasses

Sift
3 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp.
2 tsp. ginger
1/2 teaspoon salt

mix together with
1/4 cup water (more if needed)

roll out flat and cut with cookie cutters. bake in 350F oven for about 8 minutes.

Very easy icing
so simple even *I* can make it!!

1/4 cup icing (confectioners) sugar
a little bit of water
couple drops of food coloring
spread on cookies with spoon or knife

thats it!

enjoy, and hopefully post some of your favorite christmas recipes!!

Hey, good one David and right in time for the holidays. I love ginger bread cookies. I'll have to compare this to the ones I've made in the past and see how it stacks up. Looks pretty good.

Hey David, I have an idea. You bake the cookies, and I'll put on a pot of coffee. Even *I* can do that. :)
